Allegations and Irregularities in NEET UG Result 2024
- Paper Leak Scam: A NEET paper leak scam in Bihar led to arrests and accusations of candidates receiving question papers in advance.
- Grace Marks: NTA awarded grace marks to compensate for lost time, but doubts and demands for transparency remain. Due to grace marks and the normalisation method, candidates were scored 717/718, which is not possible.
- More students in Rank 1: For the first time in history, 67 students scored 720 marks and achieved AIR 1 in the NEET exam. Eight of these top-scoring students are from the same examination center in Haryana.
- Earlier release of NEET 2024 Result: The NEET 2024 results were scheduled for June 14, 2024, but they were released on June 4, 2024, creating doubt that NTA did this intentionally. Due to the Lok Sabha election, most media houses didn’t bother about the NEET scam in 2024.
In the wake of these issues, NEET aspirants protested against the alleged irregularities, demanding a re-exam and a CBI investigation.
A total of 1,563 students from six centers were awarded grace marks based on an undisclosed normalisation formula. These centers are in Chhattisgarh (Balod and Dantewada), Meghalaya, Surat, Haryana’s Bahadurgarh, and Chandigarh.
