Union Health Ministry Forms Committee to Assess Medical Colleges for NExT Exam

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has formed a seven-member committee tasked with evaluating the readiness and execution of the NExT exam in medical colleges.

According to the recent directive from the Health Ministry, this committee's primary objective is to assess the readiness of both states and medical colleges to implement the National Exit Test (NExT) for final-year MBBS students from the 2020 batch.

Furthermore, the committee's responsibilities include reviewing the regulations and assisting in the development of a strategic plan for conducting the examination.

According to the Health Ministry's directive, with the approval of the Ministry for Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, a committee has been established to assess the readiness and execution of NExT in medical colleges. The primary objective of this committee is to thoroughly evaluate the modifications introduced by NExT and discern how they deviate from the current system.

As per the ministry's directive, this committee's responsibilities encompass scrutinizing the use of NExT as a final-year examination, a postgraduate medical entrance exam, and a licentiate examination.

Additionally, the committee will determine whether there is a necessity to restrict the NExT Application Process.

According to a report, an official was quoted as saying the committee will assess the readiness of states, universities, and medical colleges for the introduction of the proposed system for the 2020 batch and recommend steps for readiness. Additionally, it will outline a plan for the implementation of NExT for the 2020 batch and beyond.

The committee has been instructed to deliver its report within a span of two weeks.

NExT Exam for 2020 Batch

As students seek clarification regarding the specific batch for which the NExT exam will be applicable, the recent action by the Health Ministry addresses these uncertainties.

It's worth noting that an official notification from the NMC outlining the details and regulations of the NExT exam has not been released at this time. Therefore, students and stakeholders are urged to exclusively depend on official sources for accurate information.

Additionally, it's important to mention that on July 13, the NMC postponed the NExT exam for final-year MBBS students belonging to the 2019 batch.
