Uttar Pradesh established nine new colleges in 2023. With this, the state currently has 3,828 MBBS seats in government colleges and 4,700 seats in private medical colleges for admission. The state is now preparing to expand its MBBS seats by 1400.

Uttar Pradesh to Expand MBBS Seats with 14 New Medical Colleges in 2024-25

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh is preparing to establish 14 new medical colleges in the 2024-25 session to increase MBBS admission seats by 1400 with the National Medical Commission's permission. The state's education department has requested permission from NMC for campus inspections.

Informing about this initiative, a senior education official from the education department said, “Physical verification of the infrastructure on the 14 campuses is expected at any time. We have submitted an application and deposited the fee for the same”.

The new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh will be established in various districts including Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Sultanpur, Amethi, Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur, Pilibhit, Oraiya, Sonbhadra, Bulandshahr, Gonda, Bijnor, Chandauli and Lakhimpur Kheri.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Department has started the process of recruiting faculty members for the new colleges, and as many as half of the faculty posts, including the principal, are being appointed.

With the approval from NMC for new medical colleges, the Uttar Pradesh government will begin the recruitment process for 19,376 vacant teaching and staff posts. A total of 9,954 vacancies will be recruited via direct recruitment, 18, 56 positions will be filled by deputation and 9,366 through outsourcing.
