How do the placements really compare between DTU B.Tech Civil Engineering and NIT Delhi B.Tech Electrical Engineering?

I've looked into both DTU for Civil Engineering and NIT Delhi for Electrical Engineering, and while both schools have their merits, NIT Delhi definitely has the upper hand when it comes to placements. NIT Delhi boasts a higher number of companies visiting for recruitment, with top packages reaching around 1.2 crores, compared to DTU's civil placements, which peak at 90,000 per month. In terms of curriculum, NIT Delhi leans more towards practical applications and tech-driven projects, while DTU's civil engineering program offers good theoretical knowledge but lacks practical exposure at times.

Campus life is vibrant at both, but NIT Delhi seems to have an edge with its technical and cultural events. Personally, I would recommend NIT Delhi for anyone looking to maximize their placement potential and get a more hands-on experience in engineering.

I would recommend choosing DTU EE if placements are your main focus. However, if you are genuinely interested in Civil, you can opt for that too. One crucial factor is the “branch” because Electrical is generally viewed as a stronger field than Civil. If you were getting ECE or even Electrical at MNNIT, I would suggest going to MNNIT.

Regarding brand value, both colleges are on par. Historically, DTU (DCE) was considered superior to MNNIT, but with the increase in seat intake and cutoffs (which are now crossing even 1 lakh rank for Delhi candidates in Biotech), the brand value has seen some decline. Still, they are comparable at this point.

It's actually a tough decision. In almost every aspect except placements, DTU definitely has the edge over NIT Delhi. When it comes to placements, it's unclear if you'd be better off in CSE at NIT Delhi or in Electrical Engineering at DTU. Keep in mind that you won't be allowed to sit for companies at DTU. Also, the placement record for NIT Delhi hasn't been impressive so far. I recommend reaching out to 4th-year students in NIT Delhi's CSE program to find out how many companies visit their campus!

DTU has a brand value comparable to most NITs, except for the top three.

Moreover, Electrical Engineering (EE) is a circuital branch. You can easily transition to Computer Science Engineering (CSE) if that's your interest. Many companies are open to circuital branches, but the same may not apply to Civil Engineering.

Regarding EE at DTU, it is considered one of the best. At one point, EE and Mechanical at DTU were regarded as being on par with IIT Delhi, although the situation isn't quite the same now.

Additionally, there’s a chance for upgradation to Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) based on your JEE rank. This often happens because students leave their seats for BITS, IIT, etc.
