Remarks
The college is was ranked 9th according to naac in India. It is one of the best colleges in Delhi University. It also has one of the best infrastructure in the North campus elites. Canteen service is really good here. Library is great with a lot of books on each topic. But you might be dissapointed with the fest of ours.
Course Curriculum Overview
Well taking about courses, hansraj provides decent teachers for almost every course. The course is divided into 3 years and which further is subdivided into 2 semesters each (6 months for 1 semester). They conduct exams at the end of semester. For odd semesters the exam is held in December, and for the even ones it occurs in May.
Placement Experience
Jobs and placements depends on your course and your active participation in some renowned societies like placement cell. Courses like economics hons and b. Com hons have greater chance of getting placed. Having said that placement is not as much expected. Only a handful of people get placed. But yeah our college do provide internships for every courses. There are plenty of societies which provide a plethora of internship opportunities to build yours CV. The stipement is approximately 5k per month.
College Events
Not only my college but any college in Delhi University is known for the fests and events which are exclusive and really great. I might miss a lot of events but broadly I would mention almost every important event. First comes the fest of ours college which generally is held in mid February. It is of 3 days and which include a dj night. Then comes the food fest which includes a variety of food counters with live performances by college level singers. Others events are inceptum (organised by ECO department).
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee for one semester broadly lies in the range of 12k to 20k per year depending on the choice of course. For economics honours it will cost 19k per year. The fee for every course is to be paid yearly. The payment is done online.
Fees and Financial Aid
Well there are not many scholarships or any loan facility provided by our college as it is directly under the supervision of Centre. So as far as I know they don't provide any such scholarships or loans.
Campus Life
Delhi University is known for the exposure they provide to the students. Many actors and directors are the alumni of Delhi University like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh khan etc. In our college there is a very good sports culture for most of the games. Some of the games like badminton, archery get special attention since they have been doing good.
Hostel Facilities
No i didn't opt for hostel but I had been there. The infrastructure is decent with a good quality of food. Also there is separate cutoff list of people applying for hostels. Try to get admissions into these hostels for cheaper accommodation with a decent fooding.
Alumni/Alumna
There is a strong alumni base not only in our college but in the whole university. You may find seniors in the every sectors of the society. Film director anurag kashyap belongs to hansraj college, already mentioned Shah rukhkhan belongs to our college. But I don't think they are helpful.
Admission
They look for the best of 4 subjects percentage in any course you are interested in. Board of passing doesnot matter. The process of admission is as follows: 1.Delhi University will provide a portal for application form. 2. Then, each college will announce their respective cutoffs for their subjects. 3.Again keep in mind that cutoff percentage is not the aggregate percentage which is mentioned on the marksheet, instead it is averaged for best of 4 subjects. There will be at least 5 cutoff announcements. 4.Check if you clear the cutoff criteria. Then go to the college for admission. There will be verification of marksheets and other certificates.
Faculty
Hansraj has a mix of quality teachers. But they are consistent and will look up to the syllabus carefully and honestly. Some teaches like Mrs Alka Kakkar ma'm from ECO department is considered one of the best in the university. Overall there is a good balance of teachers.
