UPES, B.Tech. In Power Systems Engg.
Reviewed on Sep 20, 2015

Remarks

UPES is very good with respect to any other private engg college in India with a placement of above 85% every year. Studies are good enough with professors having a good knowledge of the subject.

Entrance Preview

I had taken UPESEAT exam organized by UPES, Dehradun for admission to various B.Tech. courses and scored a rank of 5732. This college has specialisation in different engineering courses and i didn't want to do a normal engineering in CS or Mechanical so, I opted UPES in Power Systems Engg. which includes both Mechanical and Electrical Branches.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very easy most probably u will have 6 subjects and 3 labs on an average per semester.

Internships Opportunities

Even i have not yet done internship but i very well know that internship is all managed good by college staff general Stipend offered is around 1.80 Lakhs per annum. Companies coming to UPES include TCE, TCS, IBM, HYUNDAI etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

UPES because of its domain specific courses has always been a preferred choice for the companies. Some of them are Schlumberger ,Dell, Accenture, Cairn India, FedEx, Flipkart, Infosys, IBM, ITC, L&T Group, Maruti Suzuki, Nestle, Reliance Industries, GVK (Mumbai International Airport), CAPA,TCS, Wipro, Zensar, Halliburton, Mahindra Aerospace, PWC etc. Around 1126 students were placed from 2015 batch. Highest package was from petroleum engg. student of Rs. 26 lakhs per annum. However, UPES managed to provide Rs. 5.6 Lakhs package on an average.

College Events

4

Biggest event in UPES is UURJA which is the cultural fest of college and celebrated on a much higher level technical fest is IGNITE which is held everyyear in february. College also organises many events on several festivals and important dates around 20,000 students present every year in UURJA and 5,000 participation is there.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite expensive with more than Rs. 1 Lakh fee per semester for engg. However BBA course has fees of around Rs. 70K per semester fees is expensive for a student coming from an average family moreover, more fees adds up for hostel and other expenses.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't think there is a good scholarship provided by the college only 50%,25% fee is refunded to first two top students out of total 2,000 students however, Loan facility is tied up with Oriental Bank of Commerce.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life of UPES is very fine as climate here is what you will not get anywhere else workshops are organized by different commitees and societies on various topics such as ethical hacking, ac's and refrigerators, robotics etc robotics and e-kart races are done time to time so to energise you in a full mood.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel of UPES provides you a good room with 3-bed sharing. Also, mess food is good enough but seats are few. A large number of private hostels are there near college which will provide you enough services depending on their rent starting from Rs.80K to R

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is average in tjis college actually, this depends only on the alumnis who are passed out that how their behaviour is but, seniors are very fine. They help in each problem of yours.

Exam Structure

Actually, Exam structure is very hectic in UPES. You will not get a single holiday to prepare. Even, Sunday will not be given to you lab exams are done before exams in their respective labs. Marking will be very hard which will leave in a shock from which

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is highly relevant, focusing on practical knowledge for real-world prep, though more hands-on application and updated content would strengthen it. Exams occur 6 times yearly; they are tough but fair for the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of its affordability and the teaching quality of this college is good . They helps in choosing the real life application based projects . Teaching methods are impressive but they don't provide notes . We have make notes by attending class regularly. Frequency and timings of exams are of 3 hrs. For each subject . Difficulty level is moderate and students can prepare it well in the gap days also .
