The soul of Kozhikode

Since it's situated fairly close to the heart of the city, it is really easy to reach the college from different parts of the state. The college also provides transportation facilities in the mode of 2 buses.

It's a fairly decent course structure. In a span of 4 years you have to study about 56 subjects and almost 13 practical laboratory subjects. There are 8 semesters, 2 in each academic year. The first year is dedicated to basics of engineering and as you advance through the years the core subjects are taught. There are 2 internal exams in each semester. You have to get 22.5 out of 50 internal marks in each subject to qualify to write the semester exam. To pass the semester exam the cut off is 45 marks out of 100.

Almost 20 plus companies come to our college during placement drive including Infosys, VKC, Byju's, MRF. Many students get placed every year in these companies spanned all over India. The college also provides internship facility in some companies. The internship period usually lasts for abiut 1 or 2 weeks. The certification obtained after completing internship can provide credits or merit points.

The biggest event of our college is LAKSHYA, the technical fest. It's conducted almost every year. It usually lasts for about 3 days. The highlights include almost 50 plus events including workshops conducted by major companies and startups, major bands performances, DJ night etc.

Since it's a government run college the fee structure is really feasible. We have to pay only INR 6900 per semester as fee. There are almost no other major expenses. Also the college offers a lot of scholarships for different students.

There are a lot of scholarships offered by the college. For OBC/OEC/SC/ST students' e-grantz is provided by the college. It avails almost INR 40000 in a span of 4 years. For students who excel in studies, the PTA of the college rewards them every semester.

The extracurricular activities provided by the college are fairly decent. There is an annual sports event which includes events like 100,200,400 m sprints, relays, discuss throw, javelin etc. The labs are all well equipped.

I am a day scholar. The college runs a girls hostel nearby the institute. There is no boys hostel. The hostel provides food and accommodation for a reasonable price for students. It's really safe for the students to opt the hostel.

The alumni of the college are really helpful to the students. The QATAR alumni chapter of the college has provided drinking water solutions to the college. They also constay helps us with the placement drives. They also coaches us about how to attend the placement drives.

The admission criteria is entirely based on the rank obtained in KEAM exam. After I got my KEAM score I applied for admission in Mechanical department and got selected. After getting admitted I was given a date to present all the necessary documents and pay the first term fee.

The faculty of my college are experienced in their fields. They are dedicated and constantly trying to improve the quality of teaching. They are really supportive and helps the students in any and all needs. Most of them are Mtech graduates and have specialized in their fields.
