IITG review

I really liked my college, and college management was overall good.

Course curriculum was good. In First year, same course was for all the students. From 2nd year onwards according to the branch course we're taught. Environment was very open. If someone is really interested in research then professor were really helpful. Labs were good and well equipped with modern technology. Presently I worked in oil refinery and I think my course really helps me to correlate the things which I learn there and actual application.

Placement of IITG is very good. Many companies visited our campus. Some big names are Google, Microsoft, Adobe, ITC, Schlumberger, TCS, Infosys, HP, UBER, and many more. Mostly companies took test for screening, it held during 7th sem only. Then according to the shortlisted candidates they took the GD/ interview in Dec 1st &2nd week. Our institute has coding club. They prepare the students for basic coding and data structure if they want to get placed in those companies.

Alcheringa : Annual cultural Festival, Almost 20000-30000 people attended it. Participants came across all over the India. Techniche : Annual Technical Fest, Almost all the prestigious college students participated in different events. Many great scientist and personality came for lecture series.

Fee was nominal at that time, Now it has been revised and a big amount need to pay compare to that time. They accept fee through either cash or NetBanking or draft. Fee Structure is given by the institute and they keep total transparency in that. As security money they used to charge Rs 5000 during admission time. You can get it after your course completion or you can donate it to institute.

Yes. MCM scholarship given to all the students whoever get a decent cgpa, almost everyone get it whoever is eligible for that. Eligibility : Father annual income to be less than 120000. Apart from that for SC ST people, SC ST scholarship is given.

Campus Life was very happening. Too much activities to do. You can explore many things whatever you want, in technical or cultural or any other thing like sports or entrepreneurship. There are many clubs for different things like cadence for dance, xpression for drama, Robotics club, Finance club, Radio club, Debate society, Fina n art club, similar to that different groups for different sports. Gender ratio is almost 8boys:2 girls

Yes, i was allotted a single room. In IITG every student get their own room in the hostel. All the hostel have their own mess, canteen, playground, TV room, sports room, music room, hostel library, washing machine, water purifier along with proper security.

Alumni network is very good, there is a special dedicated group who organised alumni meet regularly in different locations. And yes they are really helpful. They guide us with their experience.

I got the admission through IIT JEE 2011, According to my rank I got IITG chemical engineering through online counseling. As I was always interested in chemistry so I decided to go for it. After that I got the admission letter and reporting date. Then on 23rd July Registration done and hostel alloted on the same day.

Faculties were well experienced, some of them had already worked in some industries. We were taught many subjects and almost every professor took atleast a lecture. We had almost 30 professors, some of them were at Assistant professor, some were Associate professor and rest are Professors. Most of the courses of chemical engineering were relevant to industry experience. We had also visited IOCL Guwahati refinery arranged by one of our professor.
