College Review

Overall, UPES has a very good environment for studies and overall development of the students. It provides many opportunities for us to excel in any field and placements also. But the negative side of the college is the high fee structure which is not affordable by many students. Many are studying on loans from different banks.

Course curriculum in UPES is very good. It covers all the topics over all the subjects which are not only essential for our semester exams but also required for competitive exams like GATE and GRE. Labs of college are well maintained with all the equipments and recent configured computers. Classes are well distributed thouroughout the day with proper gaps between the classes for any co- curricular activities.

One of the major highlights of our college is the placements. Carrer Services looking after the entire placement and internship process is the most efficient ones in the college. UPES provides ample opportunities to freshers like us to get placed in good companies. I am currently palced in LTI (Larsen and Tubro Infotech) with a CTC of 5 LPA. Other major companies visiting our campus were Dell ( 8-10 LPA), Postman ( 16 LPA), Samsung R&D (13 LPA), Cognizant ( 4 LPA), and many more. More than 80 companies had visited this year for placement till date and more are yet to come.

UURJA is the most awaited event of our college. It is the annual cultural fest which is organised in the month of Nov every year for 2 days. There is a huge participation of students from our campus as well as different colleges in the town. Various cultural events like Dance Performances, Gully Cricket, Nukkad Natak, DJ night, Star Night etc are held. This year Parmish Verma (Punjabi Singer) was the main highlight for the event. Other event is IGNITE. It is the technical fest held in the month of Feb. Students from different colleges and IIT Roorkee participate in the events like Hackethon, Robo Race, Drone Flying and many other events.

It would say fee structure of the UPES is on the expensive side. It costed around 12.50 lacks for entire course for 2016-20 batch and it has been raised recently to about 16 lacks for 2019-23 batch. (Excluding Hostel and other expenses)

UPES provides multiple scholarship options for new students as well as old students. There is 100% scholarship for the state toppers of their respective states taking admission in college and 25% scholarship for students obtaining 90% and above in XII boards examination. Subsequently students can carry their previous scholarship or obtain a scholarship of 20% in further years if they score 9 CGPA and above in their semester exams. Loan facilites are not provided by UPES.

UPES has a large playground inside the campus which has a Cricket pitch, Football ground, seperate basketball, volleyball and Badminton courts. UPES has recently built a Multi Activitiy Centre (MAC) which has all the facilites under one roof like Gymnasium, Theatre stages, table tennis courts etc. Students can avail all the services free including gym during the college hours. Gender ratio in college is around 3:1 (Boys:Girls). There are more than 40 student chapters and societies involved in different fields organizing different technical and cultural events thouroughout the year. UPES has really no tolerance for any ragging and indisciplinary activities. Management in the college are very strict regarding all these issues. There are few students from the Foreign exchange programs and are very comfortable with the students in the campus.

Recently, our college organized events at different major places in india for Alumni interaction and lot of alumni participated in it. We also have our own social media for alumni association where we can reach out to our seniors for any help

I got admission in UPES thourough its Entrnce Exam. After the announcement of result, we had to go thourough the counselling process where we had to choose the course avaialble at that time as per our rank. The main reason to choose Coumpter Science in UPES was that it provided an extra specialization in different fields like Cloud Computing, Graphics, Oil and Gas etc. which was not present in any other university.

Some of the faculties in the college are quite on inexperienced side. They are directly hired after their post graduation. But majority of our teachers are well experienced and have a good knowledge about the subject. Some of them are P.HD scholars and are very helpful in our studies and projects.
