Remarks
Delhi University is among the most prestigious universities in India. The fact that it is situated in Delhi, brings with itself alot of opportunities which other regions may not provide. My decision to join the college was based on the course that I took admission in, instead of the college itself. As a part of delhi university,my college offered me economics hons which is the most reputed course in delhi university and that was the deciding factor. The best thing about Shyam Lal College is the fact that it has a very good environment where the faculties and the administration is very approachable and cooperate.
Course Curriculum Overview
There has been a revision in the syllabus of B. A. Economics (Hons) this year. Our college provide skill based courses, one such course conducted this year was on stock market, under that course we were made to visit SEBI OFFICE. The faculty is average however there are a few good teachers
Placement Experience
There is a seperate placement cell in the college which brings companies for placement drives. However, the companies that end up im. Shyam lal college are mostly start-ups offering positions like graphic designer, content writer, digital marketing manager. Internship fair is conducted every every where alotbof companies visit the college which internship and job opportunities.
College Events
Shyam lal college actively involves in alot of cultural activities including department fests from each department like comblaze(commerce department fest) , economica(economics department fest) to name a few. Also there is annual cultural fest Anugoonj. Every year active participation is witnessed in the fests. However, the fest aren't organised at a very grand level whem compared to Crossroads of SRCC.
Campus Life
Shyam lal college has 2 fields of which one is used for hockey matches while the other is accessible to the students. There are 2 libraries, one is for the students and the other one for teachers with alot of books to quench the thirst of knowledge of every student. There is reading room well lighted where students can study in my leisure time. There are several labs including physics lab, chemistry lab and computer lab. There is a board room where students can give presentation. No wifi facility is available in the college.
Hostel Facilities
Shyam lal college doesn't provides hostel facility, therefore, students have to live in rental pgs. Since the college is located in Shahdra, Laxmi Nagar is the mearest student hub. Affordable pgs is available in Laxmi Nagar, Niram Vihar and Preet Vihar for students of Shyam lal college starting from ?4000-5000 per month per person. DTC bus facility is available which drops students directly in front of the college gate.
