Remarks

I opted University of Delhi because it's one of the prestigious universities in India and I came to know that students get a lot of exposure in DU.plus it's near Gurgaon. About my College.I took admission in Shyamlal because its NIRF ranking was 44 in 2019.and my percentage matched its cutoff. I won't say that DU is the best University or Shyamlal is the best college. because it's not. It's just that it teaches you to live by your own.stand on your feet. there's no spoon feeding sort of thing in colleges.and also college life is not what students fantasize in Schools. true you get that freedom you crave for. but it's really difficult to adjust in a totally new environment which is out of our comfort zone. Attendance is not such a big issue. but recently the University is being a bit particular about attendance.it just totally depends on your subject teacher. I'd just suggest try being part of societies. it'll add to your skill set plus it'd be fun.and I'd like to suggest this one thing which matters the most to me.'Choose a college which is near your house if you're not planning to reside in a pg/flat'.I have to travel straight 2 hours to reach my college.which means 4 hours a day is gone in travelling.and then you get so exhausted that anything you wanna do is 'sleep sleep and sleep'.so please choose a college which suits you. because a period of 3-4 years isn't less. believe me all colleges provide the same kind of education.just in more reputed colleges societies are more active and better.and also if you're getting admission in some college then don't wait for other cut offs. because there are chances you'll miss the opportunity to get admission in that college again. because cut offs get closed very quickly.so it's advisable to take admission in colleges as soon as it's cut off matches your percentage. The best thing is that bunking is not an issue here.no one will question you unlike private universities.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Faculty is okay.I won't say it's wonderful or anything.just my Macro/micro economics teacher is too good.Mrs Supriti Mishra. I have to study totally on my own because I can't be regular in my college because of this huge distance between my home and college.

Internships Opportunities

I just completed an Internship in Houseitt.this was an unpaid internship.but there were monetary rewards for top performers.it is basically an accomodation platform for students studying in Delhi.

Placement Experience

3

I've not been in touch with the placement or E-cell of my college as such.but I've heard that placements provided by Shyamlal is above average.Companies keep visiting colleges for picking up students but students should never depend on this completely

College Events

3.5

Annual fest was not held this year.maybe because of Covid 19. participation is not on a very big scale.since Shyamlal is an off Campus college. competitions are very regular in Shyamlal. you'll get the chance to participate in every possible field of interest.

Campus Life

2.5

There's no proper auditorium in my college.and I hate this thing the most.sports facilities are good.but there's no basketball court, a huge disappointment.I don't know about wi-fi. I've never used it.I don't even know if this facility is present or not. library is impressive. I've not been to labs of my college.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
