Remarks

College location and facilities are great. UPES promises 100% placement but the quality of placements is not good. 20-30% of students get placed in good companies while the rest of the students have to go into marketing or management sector after completing their engineering. The college looks very convincing from outside but after getting into the college, you understand the difference.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

I chose this course because of the counselling that I received in the convocation. It was very convincing and satisfying. Faculty: student:: 1:50. Even though most of the faculty members are M.Tech but you might find a few PhD holders. Passing the exams is quite difficult and the faculty members do not help you while grading as they earn from the number of students they fail. Even If you are 1 mark short of passing then you have a 100% chance of getting a backlog. College life and resources are awesome, the facilities are great too. The students who know how to make the most of their resources get the best jobs while the rest are left behind.

Placement Experience

0.5

Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester. Few companies visited namely Ramco, Hitech solutions, Lutron etc. These companies selected 2 or 3 students at max with a package of 3-5 LPA. % of students getting placements were quite low in Aerospace. My plans after getting the degree are to go for an MBA and not get tricked in fake promise-making colleges like UPES DEHRADUN.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees of UPES is extremely high as compared to other colleges. The university imposes a fee hike of approximately 1.5-2lacs every year. Their seats have stopped filling up as the fees are getting higher and the placements are getting lower every year. There are no scholarships for the general category but you can get an education loan from banks. I have done Aerospace engineering from upes and I am a 2019 pass out. I am unemployed since. 40% of my class is unemployed. Some are preparing for government exams while some pursuing masters degree but none of them got a satisfactory job of their own domain. I suggest if your parents have 20 lakhs to burn, go for it else don't. If you don't have any other option and you have to go for it. Choose a branch from computer science or choose to drop.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest is named uurja and is conducted in the month of October. There is a complete building dedicated for the library where books, journals and ebooks are available for reading and issuing. Classrooms and lecture halls are of optimum size. All kinds of sports and activities are conducted on the UPES sports ground. Student clubs like aeroclub, space club, hackathon and many more social groups are run by the students for the students.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Since UPES is located in a cold place i.e. a few kilometres above Dehradun, the accommodation doesn't require air conditioning. So the basic facilities are provided for the students like light, fan, geyser, bed, chair table, wardrobe, wifi and water purifier. Meal quality is not good but the students grow habitual to the food provided. Accommodation cost is reasonable, the quality might differ. The locality peaceful and pleasant i.e. a village named bidholi.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is highly relevant, focusing on practical knowledge for real-world prep, though more hands-on application and updated content would strengthen it. Exams occur 6 times yearly; they are tough but fair for the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of its affordability and the teaching quality of this college is good . They helps in choosing the real life application based projects . Teaching methods are impressive but they don't provide notes . We have make notes by attending class regularly. Frequency and timings of exams are of 3 hrs. For each subject . Difficulty level is moderate and students can prepare it well in the gap days also .

I always loved coding and learning about new technologies. Also, jobs in CS/IT department are paid high. The faculty and student ratio is on the medium side. Faculties are highly qualified from IIT and top private colleges. They are very helpful and have a great pedagogy.
