Unforgottable golden period!!

College is true value to money. I got what i expected from college. The college management is good and it is improving day by day. The college personals are working hard to take the college name to its true heights. The Brand UPES is expending and i am proud to be a student of this college.

UPES provides admission to students for engineering based on IIT JEE ranks, state entrance exam ranks and its self conducted exam named UPESSEAT. My admission in college was based on upesseat exam rank which was in between 900-1000. I opted for this particular college keeping in mind that oil and gas is the backbone of nation. I wanted to make my my career in this challenging and exciting industry so that i stand out of the crowd.

Course curriculum is well designed keeping in mind the industry specifications. The course has all those subjects which are needed for a professional to understand and work in oil field. The course help a fresh graduate to see those things in real which he studied in books. It is also designed such so that a student can prepare higher studies.

During college I was provided an opportunity to do internship in a company situated in New Delhi. That company was good and I understood the practicality of the theory lessons taught to me in my classes. The stipend offered was 6000pm. It was two months internship and it helped me to understand my field in better way.

UPES provides equal placement assistance to all its students. There is a special block which take care of the yearly placements. 80% of my batch was placed in companies like TCS, Infosys, Parsan Overseas private limited, Greka Drilling, Roxar Emerson, Shivani drilling, Schlumberger, Adani power, Wipro and many more. Moat of the companies offered a reasonable package of average 3.5- 4 lacks per annum. But the real satisfaction is that they employed students in core sector engineering.

There are various events which take place round the year. College celebrates freshers day, Technical fest, Law fest, Aerospace day, SPE fest, social events functions, but its annual fest named UURJA is the main event. Some events are sponsored by giant oil companies like ONGC, Indian oil, HPCL etc. Overall these function bring a value addition to the college.

To be true, the fees structure is expensive but reasonable when you find out that the money invested in studies is fruitful when you get placements. College brings out a complete change in your personality when you finally pass as a graduate. Various types of fees is demanded such as industrial trip fees but that also help you to learn many things apart from industrial exposure such as teamwork, leadership quality and many more.

There is limited scholarships being offered by college but college has tie ups with different banks for loan facilities.

Staying in College campus is the most exciting part of the whole journey. College is surrounded by hills which gives you a better scenic beauty. College not only have students from all over India but has international students too from whom you can interact and discuss about cultural differences. Various events which happen round the year helps students to groom out their skills in the field they like whether it is debates, speech, paper presentation, dramatics, quizzes, group discussions, sports, robotics, music, dance , painting and many more. These events have students from not only from dehradun but also from other state colleges.

College hostel is also different to what is present in other hostels. There are spacious rooms quipped with facilities like toilets, drinking water facility, cupboards, tables, chairs etc. Library is oped for hostel students all the time. Various other facilities such as Wifi and gym is also there. The Food quality is maintained round the year. Sports equipments are available within the premises.Overall college hostel is a nice place to stay as it is surrounded by hills.

College take good care of its alumni. They carry out not only alumni meets but give respect and regards for being connected after college. They ask from their alumni the current trends in the industry and are also ready to help them if they they needed help after college. Its a two way conversation, enjoyed and cherished by both.

The exam pattern in UPES is quite strict. The pattern is divided in three ways- the internals which included tests, assignments, quizzes and attendance holds 30% weight age of the semester marks. The second is mid sem which take place in mid of the semester and holds 20% weight age of semester. The third and finals are End sem which take place at the end of the semester. The labs are also a part of curriculum which are quite serious. They have their self assessments and exams which need to be passed to get the degree.

The faculty in UPES is highly qualified. Most of its faculty holds a doctorate degree and very few left are also Post graduated and posses industry experience. This helps them to make students understand the real glimpse of industry and make their dreams come true. Most of the faculty is busy doing its own research in their respective field of interest and sometimes they involve students to contribute their help in it. Faculty is renowned and holds various awards by reputed firms.
