Remarks
The college is excellent when it comes to academic excellence though it lacks a bit in infrastructure and placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for the most part is excellent and closely follows other colleges and universities such as Delhi University. As far as my field and vocational education are concerned the curriculum serves the role well enough but the university is lacking when it comes to on campus placements and industrial visits. Jamia does have a placement cell that regularly informs students about interships as well as job opportunities. Overall the curriculum is excellent but more work could be put into providing better and more frequent placement opportunities to the students.
Placement Experience
I do not have much information on placements. The university does provide placement and internship opportunities though I have not personally managed to get any. The university has conducted job readiness workshops from time to time.
College Events
There are many technical, cultural, and management festivals in the university. Jamia being a massive university offering a staggering number of courses in varied fields is a hotbed of activity year round.Festivals such as foundation are celebrated. Also various departments celebrate their own fests such as literary fest or coding fest etc. Usually the fests are successful with enthusiastic participation from the students and faculty.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Jamia Millia Islamia being a government university is very affordable. Most courses have a fee around 20k per year. The fee could be paid both online and offline with the online mode being the most convenient. The offline mode requires going to the attached banks to the campus. The fee structure is transparent and broken down in the fee receipt.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. The university does offer scholarships to meritorious students.
Campus Life
The gender ratios vary depending on the course with some being preferred by one gender while other are preffered by the other.Jamia has a dedicated sports complex with quality facilities and coaches. There are labs for the science and technical subjects as well as mechanical labs for engineering students. There are frequent competition such as debates and coding competition as well as designing and poetry recital etc.
Hostel Facilities
No I couldn't opt for hostel as I am from delhi and students from delhi could not avail hostel facilities with priority being given to students that have to travel the most amount of distance to get to the university. You need to pay around 10 thousand per month to stay in a decent pg close to the university though cheaper options are available.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni and senior students are very helpful. Jamia has an official and dedicated alumni association by the moniker AAJMI.
Admission
After giving my 12th class board exams I was looking at potential places to do my graduation from and Delhi University and Jamia millia islamia were on the top of my list due to their reputation and excellent national rankings. I ended up choosing jamia because it had the reputation for being very academics oriented and having a sincere student body. The fact that jamia has an entrance exam was also a draw for me as it ensured my peers were selected on the basis of stiff competition ensuring I got the best environment to pursue my academics.Jamia conducts its entrance exam around june-july with admissions taking place in august. The admission process is pretty straightforward and most of the process such as registration and payment of fees is online. The final registration is done in person in the university itself. Original documents such as 10th and 12th marksheets are required as well as character certificate and school leaving certificate. The list of required documents is available on the university website.
Faculty
The faculty in jamia Millia islamia is good. There are qualified teachers with expertise in their respective fields. On an average a semester is taught by 5 to 7 teachers depending on the number of papers and difficulty of said papers. The average age of lecturers would be around 45-50 with doctorates in their fields being the average qualification. Most lecturers with the exception of a few are well qualified and have a solid grasp on the concepts they are teaching and provide clarity to the students successfully.I have personally not checked the qualifications of each and every lecturers though they are again available on the university website.
