Remarks

It is a very reputed college in Kolkata for students opting for BCom (third best in Kolkata after St. Xaviers and Goenka). Also at our time there was not very strict attendance requirements unlike in Xaviers and Goenka. (Although recently they have become very strict in attendance requirements). Since I was also pursuing Chartered Accountancy side by side it was ideal for me to opt a college which was not very strict in their attendance requirements.

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculty at Heramba Chandra is great. Professors are among the most reputed teachers. The course at Calcutta University was quite updated too at our time except for Accounts which missed out on IndAS. However I hope they have introduced it too currently.

Placement Experience

There are certain Companies like TCS that come for Campus Placements. Companies that visit mostly offer accounts related jobs for Commerce students. However most students opt for highers studies like CA, MBA, MCom.

Campus life at Heramba is great. The Union members are very helpful. A number of programmes are organised during the year among which the Annual Fest is the best. Heramba also participates at a lot of Inter College Competitions.

College infrastructure is great with their own wifi. There is a big library with lots of books for reference purpose. There is even a Book Store where books can be purchased at a lesser price. There are computer labs, canteen and a playground too inside the campus.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
