Because this college is best for marine engineering and it has huge reputation in merchant navy. It is also known as by its name that is DMET(directorate of marine engineering). It was also known as MERI which stands for Marine engineering and research institute. It was inaugurated by late prime minister pandit jawaharlal Nehru in 1948. It is a central government university. Its main centre is IMU CHENNAI .
Course Curriculum Overview
Yeah the course curriculum is better. We have a very large workshop lab. That has a lot of machines it has four marine boilers and it is also one diesel engine. The workshop is very large and it has many instructors to make misunderstand all the concepts and the machines working very easily and efficiently. The profeesor is in the college are mainly from merchant navy background so it's very helpful to get knowledge of the the ship engines machines very easy and you also get to know about how to work on ship and how to live there get to know about what experience we will get there.
Placement Experience
The placement here were very high at a time but with time the colleges in marine engineering were also increasing so the placement gets decreased along with time as we have now too many marine engineering private college. The placement is now low as compared to earlier time. But it's overall good everyone gets Jon on or off campus because of college reputation. And because of college alumni connection
College Events
The campus has a swimming pool that is of Olympic size it has also a gym that is also very good in the college has a big playground where we can play football cricket basketball volleyball hockey . The college has also a big auditorium. Everything is very good if you get in this college I will definitely enjoy your college life
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a scholarship but it is like a reward. If you will be in top 60 you will get scholarship worth 100000- 50000 per semester.the first ranker usually gets one lakh and the first 29 gets seventy five thousand and the rest 30 gets fifty thousand. If you are good at studies you can get scholarship easily
Campus Life
The campus is in expanded in 33 acres. They are good buildings and hostel is also good. There is also a new building that is constructed already and is going to finish in sometime. A new library is also ongoing construction. The campus has lots of greenery. It has a big playground for football,cricket,hockey ,volleyball, basketball.there is an Olympic size swimming pool.
Hostel Facilities
BTech marine engineering is an residential course. Means you have to live in the hostels you have no other options. The hostels are good and new hostels are also being constructed and must be completed about in 2 years. The rooms are good and washroom are always cleaned regularly. You will have 24 hours electricity and WiFi facilities. You will have a gym .
