Remarks
Almost everything is food in the college, from the canteen to the Faculty. The infrastructure is so so. I would recommend everybody to at least gave a visit to this place. The admission process was quite normal as every other Delhi University college. The only thing which I personally don’t like about this college is its administration department. This is pathetic. But I nobody would mind it because a student might get help from the admin department just once or twice in the college round. The reason why I preferred this was English Faculty. Being a literature student, I have heard a lot about the teachers from our department. And also the literature festivals that happen once a year. It had the fantastic vibes which I can’t even describe in words. Also, the place is accessible as the nearest metro stations are Welcome, Shahdra(red line) and East Azad Nagar (pink line). I selected this college after reading multiple reviews from Quora.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had chosen this course because I have a deep interest in literature and linguistics. Moreover, the faculty at this college is amazing. There were almost all PhD teachers in my department. Only a few were on Ad-hoc basis but they too were amazing. The teaching method is quite amazing as they don’t bore us by just reading a particular novel. Rather, they encourage us to collect facts about a particular event. The exams were quite easy but since in literature, you can’t obtain marks easily, you might not get satisfactory SGPA if you don’t work hard on your assignment, tests and presentations apart from just exams.
Placement Experience
Students became eligible for placements after the second year of college (sem IV). First of all, a short interview is conducted by the Placement cell unit and the selected children move forward for the next round. A very less no. of children get placed every year about 10-15 students and the packages depend on the chosen field and company.
Fees and Financial Aid
As compared to other north campus and south campus colleges, the fee structure is not normal, rather it is expensive. 13000 for a year for an off-campus college is too much when you have to pay anywhere between 4000-5000 per year for an in campus college. In college life, I haven’t heard of any student who took a scholarship or financial assistant. There were various placement cells in college but I never enrolled with them because my field was different and I haven’t got any opportunity to showcase that.
Campus Life
Apart from the main fest, every department does conduct their festivals and all the activities and fun events were related to there core subjects. In the English department, we had - monologue, quiz etc. Classrooms were average. But it had all basic amenities like clean desks, working fans and windows for ventilation. The college had a volleyball team which was enjoyed by many. Also, the extracurricular activities include- dance, poetry, debate, film club, music etc. Dance society - Arodhya. Debate society - Sheershasth. Literature Club - Litworms. Film Club - Cinephoria etc.
