Remarks

Being in a girls college, especially JDMC, DU, made me independent in ways I couldn't imagine it thought me a great deal about life and career i love and miss my college.

Entrance Preview

I got admission in JDMC , through the common Delhi university cut off based on my 12th Boards results there is no interview, your marks speaks for you. And I always wanted to take Political Science hons., which was something very new for me to explore.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was thought provoking and amazing they started from the basics and as the semester proceeded , all the facts and theories of political science was led out. The syllabus followed by Delhi university is very well structured and also similar to the Upsc in some ways since, it was an undergraduate course much of research was not included in this phase.

Placement Experience

2.5

For my course that is Bachelor of Arts , certainly there is no placement schemes in the college but for streams like commerce, they have placements and job interviews done in the college In this process company's sent their recruiters to the college and select the candidates according to their varied requirements.

College Events

4

Well , there is a freshers , farewell and the college fest 'Symphony' every academic year to begin with there's also this Miss JDMC contest where I participated and won the college title in 2012. Next come the various inter college and inter department competition the main fest is in the even semester where you have a rock show and a DJ night from time to time the college also invites the esteem personality to come speak to us or motivate the students in my college years, I have met personalities like Mr. Shashi Tharoor , Mr. Aamir Khan, The British PM Mr. David Cameron and many others , who were called to college on various occasions the year ends with a grand farewell to our seniors every year there is also an alumni meet from time to time organized by the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

JDMC coming under Delhi University , which a centralized university of the government of India is very very inexpensive. All you need is marks to get in . The tuition fee per month is as less as Rs . 180 and including all other charges it comes upto Rs. 6000-7000 annually.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college do have few scholarship schemes totally based on the Student's academic performance none that I have availed. But yes the toppers did fetch some money from these scholarship schemes.

Campus Life

4.5

In JDMC , we had people from different parts of the country, from every state the environment of the college was very safe and secure , we girls could whatever we like . There is a great deal of freedom in college in choice of clothes , voicing ideas , skill wise etc we had seminars on ethnicity, race , genders which also helped us to raise questions , clear doubts , in short broaden our thinking process we also had people from different class of the society, but in the college it made no Difference as to where you come from.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Well, Jdmc didn't provide a hostel facility or mess facility so most of the students rented a flat or stayed in a pg in the Karol bagh area or the rajendra place locality the pgs and food facility in these areas are very expensive the average pgs cost around Rs . 10,000 - Rs . 20,000 for per room or maybe on a sharing basis even though the college is inexpensive , the living and food cost is very high the facilities provided by the pg owners are also not that impeccable.

Alumni/Alumna

The college do organize an alumni meet from time to time being in touch with my seniors helped me in certain career choices, what to do after college etc.

Exam Structure

The whole academic year is divided into semesters most of the time it was very chilled out, but only during the semester end things got hectic. We have assignments and class tests lined up to prep us for the semester exams . We generally had 4 papers each semester attendance also was a vital requirement to get the exam ticket hall in JDMC approximately 70% of the attendance is required.

Admission

After the declaration of the 12th Cbse board results, Delhi university displayed it's first cut off . According to my marks I was getting admissions in JDMC so I had to take all my certificates and go to the college , fill the form and get them verified, pay the fees and you get your admission slip.

Faculty

4.5

The professors you find in Jdmc are well versed scholars. They are into research as well as into teaching ; they give new ideas to students, challenge our thought process , make us more open minded they are all PhD holders either from JNU or some prestigious institutions.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
