Remarks

My college has been great while offering experience, adventure, and learning. The entire setup could do with some updating in the infrastructure but overall we are a good operating team and the students body is great as well.

Entrance Preview

I took the Mains and all but I did it for my mother's satisfaction. I wanted to come to DU and study literature. And that's what I did. Hansraj has a good reputation and that is why i opted for it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Its good. Its innovative and we get to research a lot about literature and the age. Its is diverse. There is not only Shakespeare but we have Behn, Marlowe, Freud, Marx and all sorts of people to read about. Main focus is usually the Elizabethan Age and the Reformation but in the final semester we are finally on to Modernism.

Internships Opportunities

I am not aware of any such internships even if college does offer them. However, there is some sort of the Editorial board which overlooks the magazine named "Vision" and college does recruit students to be a part of it.

Placement Experience

3

They are fair enough. So far we have not had many great placements where we would fit in. Usually the companies want economics students or commerce students. So it kind of is not as enthusiastic for my course but I am not complaining. We still have time. I know Bain came but the offer has been about 8 lakh. But i am not sure.

College Events

2.5

Well, at the department level we have freshers which people make a big fuss about. Then the departmental fest which is usually a way of trying to get attention that this department also exists in the college. Also, there are small talks and seminars going on all year round. Then at the college level, we have the annual fest which goes on for three days. The college also keeps on organising stuff like poetry gala or some big star coming to promote some movie and all. We always have some occasion due to some festival or something all the time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible. I personally feel its reasonable given they take it once a year. I mean there is nothing else to say about it really. I paid around 14,000 for this year so i guess its okay. Also, did i mention the online submission thing Its so convenient. We no longer need to stay or work with papers. We still would require to renew our library cards and all but that doesnt take long.

Fees and Financial Aid

I know about some scholarships our college offers. But I didnt avail any because someone else needed it more than I do when I did apply for it. I mean I can handle without one. But someone else had a more pressing need than mine. After that I never followed or applied. I do not know about the loans either.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is great. I mean you learn to be independent. You learn how to watch out for yourself and take care. You learn how to handle and save money. You experience being broke all the time. Then you learn the value of money. Gender ratio is somewhat evened out. I do not know the statistics. The diversity is great. I have met so many people from all over the country and its bizarre how easily we all gell up despite ethnic and cultural differences.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Well, Hansraj does not have a girl's hostel. So I stay in the pg but my friends tell me that the hostel is great. They are served both vegetarian and non vegetarian food and the mess is good. I dont know what else they have. In my pg, its okay. The rent is decent. The food could be better. My pg serves only vegetarian food and I love chicken. So I have a conflict there. But overall its fine.

Alumni/Alumna

I have had really amazing seniors and so far I did not meet any alumni as such and neither did i require any help. I may require help in the future but that is something that I will worry about next year. Although in one of my assignments during an internship with the pioneer newspaper, i got to meet shahrukh khan if that counts.

Exam Structure

Its fair enough. They have made the fee submission online which is so easy now. No more DD's and waiting in the line and forms and all. Exams are cool so long as you are aware of what you are supposed to be writing in the paper. The paper gets over by 12 leaving the day to relax. We get holidays in between the papers for preparations and revisions. so it is okay.

Faculty

4

Dedicated I should say. They actually set up extra classes for us. They are cooperative and always ready to help. They make efforts to make classes interesting and usually we always help them in that by being responsive. The assignments are always well thought of; not too difficult but always something that would make us learn and never in the easy sight either. Our assessment is always fair and they make sure we excel in their papers.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
