Navita Kukreti's Review On National Institute Of Technology - [NIT] Uttarakhand, Srinagar Garhwal

NIT UTTARAKHAND is an institute of national importance and is TEQIP-3 funded. It was my home state NIT and near to my home. Also I got my preferred branch in the college so I chose to go for it.Although, it doesn't have its own permanent campus and it's remote location (in a hilly area) has always troubled students. But the faculties are well qualified and dedicated. They leave no stone unturned in delivering their be94% st.

I chose mechanical engineering since I was fascinated by the way machines worked. This is the domain of engineering, where daily life physics is mostly observed. This was the branch I could relate the most to. Mechanical department has the greatest number faculties than any other department in the institute.Most of the faculties hope PhD from renowned IITs or NITs,while some have done their MTech from these reputed institutions.As far as my department is concerned, the teachers continue to adapt their teaching techniques to the needs of the students.This has been equally true in online classes as well.The term exams are easy to be passed or can be well scored in, if one follows the directions of the faculties.

I haven't opted for any stipend based internship yet.

Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester. There are several clubs functioning in the institute- Cultural and Fine arts club,Sports Club, Photography Club, Literary Club, Adventure Club and Technical club.All the festivals are celebrated in the institute with vigour and joy.Several competitions are hosted by various clubs throughout the year.DJ Night is organised at major events.Annual Fest Cliffesto and departmental competitions (technical in nature) were organised before we came to college as Freshers.Sports events are the majorly hosted throught the year.Classrooms are furnished with smart tecahing facilities.

No scholarship for general category students. I am not aware of any loan facility or scholarship provided by college.However, SC-ST students are provided by some scholarship by government.

WiFi facility is above average and speed is pretty good, greater than 1 MBPSIn the absence of permanent campus, size of library isn't big.Sports facilities are good but not great as compared to other NITs.Labs are well furnished with equipments.

2 roommates in a room.A bunk bed with a chair, table, a common rack, an almirah for both, two switch boards, two tubelights,two wall fans and a table fan.Mess menu is fine, if not very good.Meal quality can be rated 6/10.Registration process for hostel and affordability is very easy and convenient.
