All about NIT Uttarakhand

Course curriculem here is taken from IIT, so it is good. Important courses are offered so you could get knowledge of these courses.However some very unnecessary courses are also compulsary. You will feel no relevance of the subject but you will have to pass the subject to complete you degree.

Internships are there for final year students.Optym always offer internship but for CSE students only.They provide a stipend around 40-50k per month and provide other expenses.Samsung R&D also provide internships for CSE and ECE students. For other branches there is no internship offered(atleast for past 3-4 years).

Placements are decent for CSE branch. But for other baranches very few companies visit on campus. Also for other branches your Cgpa should be good to be eligible for companies.If you have interest in your core branch(other than CSE) than it is better to preparing for Gate in early stage(like start preparing from 2nd year).

The year wise tution fee is 70000 per semester for general or obc catogory students. However their is a option for tution fee remision according to your family income certificate. If your family income is lower than 1lakh per year, then you got 100% remision(means your tution fee is zero). If your family income is greater than 1lakh but less than 2.5 lacs per year than you have to pay 2/3rd of the tution fee.If your family income is greater than 2.5 lacs per year than you have to pay full tution fee. For sc and st students tution fee is 0. Other fee is mess and hostel fee. If you opt for hostel with mess than you have to pay hostel fee which is nearly 8000 and mess fee which is 22000. If you don't opt for hostel and mess than you don't have to pay these fee.(But note that you have to take both mess and hostel.You can't take only hostel.Either take both or none).Other chages are around 10000 per semester which include charges like seat rent,internet,book bank exam fee ,etc. So your tution fee is according to your family income as mentioned and other fee is around 40K per semester.

The worst thing here is there is no permanent campus, so college life is very bad. Don't have to much expectation for college life. There are 2-4 fests organized every year(not more than that). Hostels here are good. Like water and electricity supply is good.

Hostels here are really good (you can say only good thing in college). Rooms are big enough and proper bed and almirah are provided to students. Study table and chairs are also provided. Lan facility is provided and internet is very good and stable most of the time( internet speed is upto 200 mpbs).Also you can live on rent nearby to college which is not very cheap but decent(but hostels are much better than rented rooms).

I chose this college because i have the state quota for this state(Uttarakhand). I expect to get CS here but unfortunately i got ECE.Also a tag is NIT will be benificial if future. In comparision to other NITs this college doesn't have its own campus which is bad (college life sucks here). Placement were decent in online time(2021 - 2022) but now the placements are becoming worst. For CSE branch it is decent but for other branches its very poor. Admission process is same like other NITs (Jossa Counselling).

A semester comprises of two mid semester exams and one end semester exam. Mid sem exams generally are of 20 marks. End sem exam is of 40 marks. Remaining 20 marks are given on the basis of assignments or class tests. It generally depend on professors and it is told in the start of the semester(but mostly it is same as mentioned). All the professor here are Associates or Assistant professors.Passing exams is not much difficult but to score good grade takes more effort.Grading is relative so you have to perform better than other students to get good grade.

Night life is worst. Whole market is closed around 10 Pm here.It is very difficult to found any stuff after that (especially snacks).So you don't have many option here at night.There is one Gym in college and 1-2 gyms nearby which you can join. For boys you can hang out till any time there is no hard restrictions. But for girls the in time in hostle is 9.30. Girls have to be in hostel before that.There are some famous temple nearby you can visit like(Maa Dhaari Devi Temple around 15 km) etc.
