UPES Dehradun review

Good aspects- Great discipline, good character building, decent faculties, ample opportunity to develop interpersonal skills along with technical skills. Very helpful teachers and staff who are always ready to help students in clearing their doubts and also help them with their personal problems as well. Good hostel facilities also available with separate hostels for boys and girls. Many cultural and social events throughout the academic year which is beneficial for the students to get a break from the daily monotonous life. Bad aspects- A very high fees and work pressure. Admission process - Admission is taken by two ways either upeseat exam or on merit on the basis of class 12th marks. After filling the application form counselling is conducted and then the branches are alloted based on the performance in the upeseat exam or 12th percentage whichever option one has chosen for. Admission dates - Admission starts from mid June and goes on till end of July. Reason for preferring UPES - Location of the college Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Great campus with some scenic beauty. Excellent facilities available. Many specialization also available so one has got many options to choose from. Great atmosphere and less pollution. Good placement opportunities and a great team to help the students prepare for the placement process. Also it is ranked as one the best private colleges in the country for UG and PG programs.

I chose computer science as I had a keen interest in it moreover there are ample opportunities in this field for placement in future. Faculty is top class. Some of them are having great in depth knowledge about their subjects while most of them are vastly experienced in their respective domains. Some are also very close to the industry which gives us opportunity to know more about the industry trends and working culture. UPES is having a good faculty student ratio. Faculties are very well qualified with great colleges and their teaching methods is also very good. They analyse the students capacity to learn and adapt to the situation accordingly. Exams are taken at regular intervals. Each semester is having two exams along with many class tests, assignments, vivas and practicals. The level of examination is also very good and one has to study quite rigorously to secure good marks in the semester.

The companies start visiting campus from the starting of 7th semester. Companies like VMware, MAQ software, Cognizant, LTI Jio and many more visits the campus for recruitment. Highest package - 27 lpa.Average package - 4 lpa.Percentage of students getting placements - 90%.After getting the degree I would invest my years working for an IT company and gain the insights from it. Further after gaining enough experience, knowledge and funds I would like to start my own venture.

Fees is 1200000 which excludes the hostel fees. Scholarship of 20-10% is offered to the top 5 students in the branch. Also additional scholarship is being provided to girl students. Upes also changes it's fees policy every year. One can expect a 10% hike from the previous year in the fees.

Life at campus is very great and full of excitement. Annual fest - Uurja conducted in the month of September.Tech fest - Ignite conducted in the month of February. A great library where books are always available. Sports - Badminton, cricket, table tennis, football and volleyball are the sports that are being played in the campus. Also competitions are organised yearly for these sports. Social group - CSI, Vultus, Paradigm, Informatics Club, ACM, FIPI.
