About my college

I applied for Abbasaheb Garware College, SP College, and Fergusson College. I got admission in all three but I chose Fergusson College overall because it is the top BSc College one can opt for in Pune. I availed admission through the defence quota. You just have to have your relation certificate (for serving personnel). For admission to Fergusson College, you have to apply through the website fergusson.edu and for AGC and so college through the vriddhi online portal. U can directly apply for admission through the website of fergusson.edu and the admission process is also quite easy on the other side the vriddhi online portal admission process is quite tedious because I faced problem of server down quite a few times. Fergusson college allows many undergraduate courses in BSc vocational as well as in plain BSc. Fergusson College is best overall for many reasons first is the placement and the second is the infrastructure and faculty. In counselling, you will be told about the course structure and overall pattern.

I was quite interested in BSc Computer Science after my class 12 because I find the future in this domain very good as we know after 10 years IT sectors are going to dominate. Faculty to student ratio is 1:5. Every teacher is a postgraduate from a recognised university in M.Tech or MSc in CS. There is 2 Semester exam in a year and 2 concurrent exams every semester followed by practicals. It was not difficult to pass the exams just be consistent and regular can always fetch good marks in exams.

The number of academic programs increased with the addition of biotechnology, environmental science, microbiology and computer applications and recently data science. Since then, the number of interaction with companies has increased fourfold with a focus on skill development of students, training, resource development and industrial training, internship and campus to corporate programs. In view of all these essential perquisites, all activities have been clubbed together under the umbrella of "CAREER FACILITATION CENTER".

After 4-semester companies come for campus placement. There are many reputed companies that have come for placement in Fergusson College like Infosys technologies. Following are the top recruits: 1) TCS 2) Cognizant 3) Capegami Persistent system LTD. The highest package up till now is 10 lakhs by Infosys. Nearly 65-70% of students get placement every year. After getting a graduation degree I will certainly opt for post-graduation in MSc computer science.

1-year fees are 47000 but there are two many exemptions for weaker sections of society like obc. I didn't apply for scholarships but there are many. There are many job opportunities after BCS and many companies come for campus placement like Infosys, Microsoft etc.

Life at the campus is very very good There is an annual fest named Electra where all students from each department participate and make projects. There are NCC/NSS/ Peta facilities in Fergusson College. Students participate in social activities some of them being a smoking campaign on the streets and initiatives of cleaning the city. There are social groups like go green Pune and Janseva foundation run by FC students.
