Remarks

I have applied for Gargi College only and got admission into it in the very first cutoff list. It was my preferred college with my preferred course B.A Prog (Economics+Political Science). I have not availed of any quota for admission. The admission criteria for my program was 1. minimum marks for the General category was 95% in the first cutoff 2. Eligibility for applying was passing 12th class with 60% at minimum calculating four main subjects including one language subject. The admission process for my batch(2020-21) was based on online mode and admission was based on both merit and entrance based. Delhi University has clarified all the doubts of aspirants through various guidelines published on its website.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course curriculum because of its flexibility. It gives ample opportunities to pursue other courses and alongside one can prepare for different competitive exams. The faculty: student ratio is 1:8. The faculty members are adequate as per students. They provide students with every possible insight. The faculty members are well qualified in their specified fields with most of them having degrees in Doctorate(PhD). The professors use practical methods to comprehend the syllabus. Their method of teaching is quite easy for students to relate to practical life. They are very friendly and are present to help their students in and out of classroom learning. They cope with students queries and tries to solve them as soon as possible. Both teaching and non-teaching staff are supportive of their students. Term exams are timely schedule under the guidelines of the University of Delhi every six months. The paper is of 100 marks, 75 is of theory and 25 is of practicals.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internships opportunities available at Gargi College are immense. Students from different courses apply for different posts in different companies. Many companies and NGOs offer different posts varying from a content writer to video editor through which students excel and enhance their skills. Erudite, Girl up, Angeza, Aashamaan Foundation, Mahika Mishra Foundation, Pramos, Prep Junction, YOUTH Action hub etc. are various companies that offer internships to students. The stipend varies from different skillset from Rs 1000-5000. The students get letters of recommendation based on their performance.

Placement Experience

4.5

From the first year itself, the students from various courses are qualified for the internships on a part time basis. Students from the 2nd and 3rd years become eligible for campus placements. The various companies brought by Placement Cell are NDTV, KPMG, Delloite etc. The highest package offered was 12 LPA and the average package was 1.5 LPA. The percentage of students getting internships and placement is between 70-80%. My plans after getting the degree are to clear my MBA and get a chance to study at FMS, Delhi.

Fees and Financial Aid

The minimum fee for admission into my course is Rs.10000-Rs.15000 per year. The fee cost is optimum for the course provided. There are various scholarships provided by the college for students of backward class. The college also gives fee consession to poor students. There are many scholarships for students in various departmantes based on their merits.

Campus Life

4.5

Reverie is the annual fest organised by our college in February. It's a three day event where many Bollywood celebs become part of it. There are as many books in the library of Gargi and the best thing is its online accessibility which means being at your ease sitting on your couch you can have access to all the books, journals, novels and newspapers etc. present in the library. The classrooms are well furnished and airy with aeration and natural lights all over the rooms. There are various sports activities including table tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton and kho-kho etc. which develop a sense of sportsmanship in students. There are many social groups such as NSS, NCC, GSS and women's development centre which work on providing students with an insight to gender economic and social issues and help in developing leadership qualities in them. There are various clubs such as Quiz Club, Debate Club, Dance club, singing club, street paly society, eco club etc.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
