IIT Guwahati detailed Review

Admission was based on the All India ranks in JEE Advanced examination. We have to qualify Jee mains or being eligible for applying for jee advanced and after qualifying jee advanced we have to fill the colleges in counseling conducted by josaa which is conducted in several different rounds, after successful completion of the counseling process, colleges are allotted according to the number of seats vs rank secured. There are many reservations in IITs like SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC/ Female. I am an SC category student. for my year(2020) cut-off marks were 69 for the common rank list and about 34 for the SC category. Jee mains is conducted by NTA in online mode. Jee Advanced is conducted by different IITs each year and it is also an online examination.

I am much interested in electric circuits and the core side that's why I preferred Electronics and electrical engineering branch here in IIT Guwahati. Student to faculty ratio at IIT Guwahati is very good and is around 1:10. Each and every faculty here is highly qualified and expert in their field. Many of them have studied from very reputed institutions throughout the world. Many of them have experience teaching abroad. The teaching method is also nice, our first year was online but still, all the labs, classes, tutorials, and exams were very nicely conducted. We also got viva for few courses. We were having quizzes every week for each course with different weights and the final result was made on the basis of those marks. Passing the quizzes was not very difficult, just a revision before the exam and proper listening in classes is enough to score average marks. professors are really nice and friendly.

As per the data available on the college's webpage, the top companies providing internship opportunities on the campus are Amazon, Adobe, BEL, BPCL, bank of India, bosch, BHEL, coca-cola, dell, Godrej, google, and the list continues. Stipends are also nice as heard of seniors.

IITs are known for their very good placements. IIT Guwahati is among the Top 7 IITs and it also has very good placement stats. &th semester onwards students are eligible for campus placements. Google, Amazon, facebook, Adobe, nvidia, infosys are a few of the top recruiters. IN 2019, Microsoft offered the highest CTC of 1.5 crores. FOr the present year, despite the covid situation, very good placements were here. The highest package offered was 70laks per annum and the average package offered was around 21.42 lakhs per annum which is higher than the previous year. The placement percentage was around 76% for B.Tech. and B.Des courses, also many students opted for higher studies. I'll be focusing on the core placements and PSUs visiting the campus.

As IITs are government institutions so many people think it will have a lesser fee but it is not the case. But after a fee hike, it is now equal to private colleges. We have to spend around 14 lakhs throughout the 4 year of B.Tech.. this amout also includes the hostel and mess charges and other expenditures. But money should not matter when you are getting such a great college, its totally worth of fee. For students who cannot pay this much fee, educational loans are easily provided by the banks. Our campus itself has branches of few banks. For SC/ST/Pwd students and students with annual parent's income less than 1 lakhs tution fee of 1,00,000 (per semester) is waived, students with annual parents income between 1 lakh and 5 lakhs two-third of tution fee is waived. Many aother scolarships based on academic performance are there for each and every student irrespective of category and financial status of family.

Campus life is awsome here. IIT Guwahati is the most beautiful campus of india with mountains, lakes, wide variety of wildlife and much more. Alcheringa is Annual fest of IITG which is conducted in month of january each year. It is 3day4night fest woth a lots of events, also many famous singers, celebrities perform in it. It is among the biggest fests in northeast India. Techniche is annual tech fest of IITG which is generally conducted in the month of August every year. It is also a 3 day event. Techniche conducts an exam,Technothlon for school students which is totally managed by students of IITG and top performers of exam are called to IITG during tecniche fest. Library has a large variety of books including e-resources. Campus also have a Computer centre which also have a supercomputer. Sports available- cricket, football, basketball, athletics, volleyball, squash, badminton, tennis, swimming, hockey and many more. Clubs- photography, music, dancing, acting, robotics, coding, more

Hostel life is amazing in IIT Guwahati, we have a bed, chair, table and cupboard in a room. Boys have single rooms whereas girls have to share a double room. Rooms are quiet spacious. Each room have a lan connection with unlimite internet and a very good ineternet speed. Hostel have a mess, stationary, juice shop, canteen, tv room, sports room, mini library, laundary, pantry room (not in every hostel ig). Every basic need products are available in the stationary shop like soaps, cosmetics, bucket and almost everything. Also college arranges stalls inside the campus for reshers to buy basic items like mattress, bucket, curtains, cycles, etc. Quality of mess food is satisfying. It has a very wide menu with boht veg and nonveg food items. We also get sweet dishes 2-4 times a week at dinner time. Hostels are randomly alloted after the successful registration in the college. Hostels are compulsary in IITG, so no one goes for PGs.
