Remarks

When the cut off came through, I was finally left with two options - Zakir Hussain eve. and Shivaji college. Even though Zakir Hussain was relatively closer to my place of residing, somehow, the area surrounding the college didn't appeal much to me. The same day, I went to Shivaji College to have a look at that college and I loved everything about it. I availed the ladies quota of 5% while getting admission. In the general category, the minimum cutoff required was 90% and there was no minimum age specified to us. For the admission process, I first got the form from the admission office of the college, then I had to take the form to my course's department (English) and get my education documents verified from there. After that, I was supposed to sit in the auditorium and wait for a call to complete the fees payment process. All of this took around 2 days to complete my admission to the college. The process was very smooth and the college seniors and staff members were very supportive.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I wanted to pursue a career in the Content field since I completed my schooling and I've always been an active reader. Thus, this course was my first and only preference to go ahead with it. There were around 8-10 professors and in my batch, we were a total of 130 students divided into two sections. The teaching method of most of the teachers was amazing and highly authentic. It was personal and was really interactive. Our external exams were conducted on a half-yearly basis, i.e., at the end of every semester. So we had a total of 6 external examinations. And the internal exams were conducted after completion of every 2-3 chapters/poems for each subject.

Fees and Financial Aid

At my time, we didn't witness any fee hike. The cost to study was nearly INR 500-600 per semester as we were to get a photocopy of the extensive notes provided by our professors. Whenever a book was not available in the market, we could get the chapters or the complete books from our professors and get them photocopied.

Campus Life

5

Shivaji college hosts and participates in various fests, events, etc. Each department had its own set of cultural fests, events, workshops scheduled at least twice a year. Apart from that, the cultural fest of the college is held during February and March of every year and goes on for two days. There are nearly 7 societies in the cultural society of the college and each society is allocated, two faculty members. The annual day of the college included curricular felicitation which is held in the month of August every year. The library of the college is huge, spread across 3 floors. It's also got computer systems available for the students. All you have to do is go there with your college ID card and keep the bags/belongings outside in the open locker where you get the pass for the library.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
