IIT GUWAHATI: the name speaks for itself

Firstly we have to enroll in JOSAA counseling. Then we will be alloted colleges based on our score and the preferences filled by us. After getting a college we have to register in the named college and also have to pay the semester fee. Then our registration is complete.

IIT Guwahati has one of the best chemical engineering departments among all other colleges. The teachers here are very supportive too. They are highly qualified and experts in their respective fields. Studying here will definitely boost the chances of getting good jobs as well as a good referral for further education interviews in the biggest universities of the world. The faculty-student ratio here is also very good and enough attention can be paid to individual students. Teaching methods for different teachers are different. Some of them you will find quite interesting others you may not. But overall teaching is good. The major exams are mid-sem and end-sem but apart from that, there are weekly quizzes. The overall paper level is moderate to difficult. Passing is easy if you pay attention in classes and solve tutorials.

Students get internship opportunities in the 3rd year of btech. Some of the biggest companies in the country come to the campus to provide intership opportunities to students. The major project work after getting a company internship is decided by the company itself. Other than that some students work under the proffesors for a certain project of their choice. Students also do different projects with their respective clubs which also helps them maintaining a good CV for different job profiles.

The placement stats in IIT Guwahati like any other IITs are very good. Most of the students who apply for campus placement get placed provided they have decent enough scores. Some of the students apply for further education too so talking about the percentage of total students is not appropriate. Some of the students also found their own start ups here and have been very successful in their careers ahead. My plan is to get a job in the campus placement.

There are different types of scholarships available. One of the main scholarships is the McM scholarship. Other external scholarships can also be applied from here. Campus placements and intern is good and a lot of the students here get very high paying jobs.

There are more than 10 such clubs present on campus. There is a club for almost every aspect of education, career Or arts. There is a photography club, finance and economics club, expressions club, cadence the dance club, consulting and analytics club, sports club and many more. Besides this many cultural and technical events are also carried out in the campus all of which are handled by students

One main thing in the hostels is that everyone gets a separate room. You will get a table, a bed, an almirah and a chair in your room. The food menu is different on different days. Three meals are provided on each day and there are special menus on certain days of the week. The food is available in both veg and nonveg. The meals are decent enough. The registration process for hostels is simple, you just have to check a tickbox in the initial application of your registration form. The campus is 15-17 kms away from the city so most students prefer to live in campus hostels themselves.
