Remembering college days at Stcet through my writing

If you want to go for my stream ie electronics and communication the admission process is quite simple. You just need to possess a valid wbjee rank in order to be eligible to apply for a seat in this college. Also in order to be eligible, you need to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry and maths. Nowadays getting a seat in engineering college is just a cakewalk. In the era of the digital world, you will be getting application forms online. Also, you can obtain the same from counselling centres also if available. Application fees are also less. Recent fees need to be obtained from wbjee counselling website. In our time offline counselling at Yuva Bharati kirangan was held. From where I obtained a demand draft of 15k and the rest amount of 40k was supposed to be deposited directly at college itself. Maybe the registration process was made a bit simpler. The chance for improvement is always there.

If you want to appear for the Ies exam you need to appear from any 4 core streams in which ece is also included. Apart from this from my childhood I had a nack towards communication stream. Apart from this before joining stcet I had gone for a career fair in salt lake precisely where I was advised by a person to take up ece during my engineering days. If I speak of faculty to student ratio it was roughly 6:70. However, the teachers were highly qualified being from prestigious IIT, nit. Some even left their high paid jobs in PSU like barc, sail in order to teach in our college. The teachers were really helpful. They helped us in each and every possible way whenever we asked for. The terms exams were all timely like one was odd sem followed by even sem. In between sem exams, we had two internals also. The terms exams were of moderate to difficult level.

Students from the 4th year onwards were eligible for seating at campus placements. You can get multiple job offers from various companies which happen to visit our college. Our principal recruiter was cognizant of technology solutions followed by Infosys, ITC infotech, Vodafone, odehs technologies and various other companies. During our time 88% of students were selected. Many got double job offers from Infosys and cts. The highest package of 6 lakhs per annum was offered by cts where an average package of 4 lakhs per annum was offered by Infosys and itc infotech offered a package of about 4.5 lakhs per annum. So you can see in our college we do have good placement scopes. After getting the degree I plan to pursue my MBA dreams or maybe I can seat for the ies exam about which I have mentioned earlier. Let's see what happens in near future.

Fees were of dynamic nature from our year onwards. In fact, we were a little bit unlucky since fees were increased dramatically from our time only. Like previously sem fees were only 21k per semester From our time it jumped by a huge margin to 40k per semester. From 3rd year onwards it was increased by 1k per semester per year. The scholarship was of two types: one was merit cum means scholarship and another one was minority based scholarship. I was offered the first one since I was good at my sem exams. Obtained good grades. However, the ones getting minority-based scholarships were entitled to 100% scholarship in their tuition fees. The other fees like lab fees, library fees, development fees were similar to other regular students. The job which I got on campus was in cognizant technology solutions. For internship, I looked into Tata teleservices where no stipend was given.

Annual tech fest named srey was held in the months of March or Feb roughly every year. During this time only we could enjoy a wonderful time apart from our studies. We could indulge in extracurricular activities easily. There were various events in srey like robotics, sudoku, impromptu and others. In fact, in every possible event, there were cash prizes too. Students from other colleges also came to participate in our college. Apart from this, another cultural fest was also held in our college where students from our college only participated in singing and dancing. Some can recite poems too. You just need to showcase your talent in every possible way. The library contained a plethora of books so in order to study you don't need to go elsewhere also the campus was well connected via string WiFi so that you can work at ease. The classrooms were big and nice.
