Campus life: Hype vs Truth

Likes

The discipline is followed very strictly.Also you have access to library which is good,teachers are helpful and no ragging policy which is strictly followed and has a decent environment.
Thery conduct seminars which encourages students.Many faculty members are knowledgeable experienced in their respective subjects and helpful willing to solve doubts beyond the classroom also.
The college has decent infrastucture including classrooms,labs and library .

Dislikes

While the curriculum is decent ,it lacks sufficeint practical implementation.More hands on projects,real world application and industry exposure would improve learning significantly.
Campus life can sometimes fell limited in terms of active student interaction.Opportunites for clubs,networking and collaborative activities could be improved.
The college comes under St tHomas School so the campus is not great it is compact and has a canteen.

Placement Experience:

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

All about St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology

Likes

The professors are very good and friendly in nature.They will help you in every way possible.
The facilities are so so but college tries their best to provide all the equipment and everything.
The fee structure is low and affordable by everyone.The girls to boys ratio would probably be 1:2

Dislikes

The facilities are not upto the mark but the fees make up for that.
The college ground is not too big like nits or iiits or so but you will enjoy.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placements after 3rd year.A no of companies like T.C.S, Cognizant,PCS etc visited this year and 100 percent placement was offered each student got placement specially from cse branch as I am cse student.You can go for higher studies if you want but you can opt for placements here.The average package was 6 lpa and highest was 30 lpa lowest was 4 lpa for this year.

The staff is really helpful and Cooperative
The seniors and classmates are friendly and Helpful.
The professors are really good and great at what they do

Dislikes

The location, it's located in Khidirpur so frequently there are jams and not much to see around.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is a bit lengthy so u really need to study well. Its not hard just lengthy, the college provides u with resources well enough to score good marks in college but it's more about your efforts

Faculties are very interactive. You can contact them any time you wish regarding doubts and academic queries. Faculties are all qualified in their field and their teaching experience is good enough.
Boys and girls have their separate common room and games likes table tennis, Badminton, Cricket are available
Campus is very large. Central library facility is very good.

Dislikes

There is no hostel in tha college. Therefore student have to think about residency nearby
Canteen food quality is not so good enough.
In campus there is restriction for roaming around

Placement Experience:

Placement is fine. But placement percentage has been reducing over the year. Very few companies visit the campus. Highest package is 1.2cr per annum (2022 batch) . Average package is 4LPA to 6LPA. Companies like cognizant, Voltus, Mindtree visits college

Nice Faculty and overall experience

Likes

Friendly faculty , amazing learning environment
Workshops , events and seminars every sem
College well maintained and labs have all working equipments

Dislikes

Average package is around 4lakh which is kinda low
Super strict faculty even if u skip one day u have to inform before hand

Placement Experience:

The highest package is 10LPA while average is around 4LPA .Some of The companies that visit us are cognizant,Infosys, Microsoft,etc.our college starts preparing us for placement from 3rd year.and 90% of the students get placed.

Likes

departmental teachers are pretty frank and helpful when you need them.
There is a great scope of sports in this college.
Its strict but its valid according to me.

Dislikes

They take fine for low attendance which is not applicable for other colleges.
punishments are very unnecessary in this college

Students are eligible for placements in the fourth year I suppose. Commonly visited companies are Wipro, Cognigen, Infosys, and Capgemini. The highest placements went till 1CR or something that's what I've heard. The average package is probably 6 Lacs pa.

Strict college with decent facilities

Likes

The playground of the college is huge and every year a sports competition is held
The attendance criteria is relaxed. They will allow you to sit in exam no matter
The Faculty is decent and some of them are really helpful

Dislikes

The college is overtly strict and treats students like school students
College doesn't provide NOC for internships so basically getting off campus offers are difficult before 4th year.
During admission original 12th board marksheets are taken so that students can't take admission in other colleges

Placement Experience:

From 6th sem onwards students become eligible for campus placements. Some companies which visited (except 2024 where very few companies came and recruited only a handful) are p360 , nrift , infosys , mindtree , cognizant

A deep dive into life in St. Thomas college of Engineering and Technology

Likes

Education are good, some faculties are really great.Teaching methods are good.
Campus is so interactive. Teachers are always there for the support, mentoring facilities are also there.
Course curriculum are also good for overall growth of a student.

Dislikes

The campus is small. They shoud work on infrastructure more.
There should be some more program on career advancements. Placement servicesshould improve.
The college should work on communication way as many of them speaks in local language sometimes it becomes hard to understand things .

Placement Experience:

I am just enter 2nd year so i dont have much info about this. From 4th semester onward anyone can sit for placements. Highest packaged offer is around 6 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placed us so less. I might go for offcampus.

Placement Experience:

Average placement opportunities with a handful of companies visiting the campus, highest package being 12lpa offered by NRIFT, followed by 5.5 lpa by p360 solutions. Mass recruiter like LTIMindtree comes with avg package of 4 lpa and some higher package for selected students.

STCET 1st year review

Likes

Anti Ragging. The college is very strict regarding ragging and hence as a fresher I never faced any issue with the seniors. That is why the seniors are also very friendly and will never let you feel inferior.
Departmental Tournaments. You will absolutely love the air and spirit during departmental tournaments, like that of football, cricket, table tennis, badminton, and annual sports
Events. The college organises two events for students, tech & cultural fest and a frehsers, then the students also organize a departmental farewell (and some other cool stuff which I cant tell here)

Dislikes

Infrastructure. I wish that the classrooms were better equipped, they become a furnace during summers.
Uniform. The college has a uniform which gives you the feeling that you are still studying in school but it has plus point that it lowkey kinda maintains equality among students
I wish that some teachers would understand that its a college and not a school.

Placement Experience:

students are eligible from 7th semester for in campus placements,. we get visited by infosys, cognizant, nrift, mindtree, p360, etc. last year highghest was 10lpa, and average was 6lpa there was a total of 277 offers for 240 students
