Remarks

The first step would be to fill in the registration form of DU which will be available on the DU's official website. Then, DU releases a number of cut off list for various colleges affiliated with DU one after the another. If you meet the eligibility criteria and cut offs of the college and the course you would like to apply for, you can apply for the same on your DU registration portal itself. Payment of fees would be the final step of the admission process. So, once you have paid the fees your admission will be confirmed. About the eligibility of the course(eco hons.) , You should have passed 10+2 and mathematics is a compulsory subject to have in your 12th class. If you didn't have mathematics in 10+2 then you are not eligible to pursue this course. I got admission in the 5th cut off and i was from a obc category, so I also got the reservation benefits as 27% seats are reserved for the students of obc category.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I did choose this course because i found economics really interesting and if something really interests you then you should just go for it. Also, Economics honours is one of the best course of DU and it has the highest placement packages from big companies like BCG, Mckinsey, KPMG and many more. The faculty of the college is really good with strong educational background. The Professor's are very kind and supportive. Sometimes, the college also provides 2 teachers for a single subject for a better in understanding and so that the syllabus should get completed on time. They teach really well, you just have to listen to them carefully. About the term exams, one semester is around of 4 months which is enough to get the syllabus completed on time. As I had OBE exams, so the level of obe exams were moderate to difficult and also a bit lengthy also. But with your focus and determination towards studies you can surely pass these exams easily.

Internships Opportunities

4

College provides various internship opportunities with a good stipend. You can start grabbing these internships from the start like even in the first year of your college according to your interest and skills. These internships provide you with a good experience and also help you to build your CV. A lot of big companies like a bank of America, LEK consulting, Citi bank, etc come to hire interns. They offer a very good stipend to the interns according to their profiles. Students can also apply for off-campus internships and also for internships that are being provided within the college by various societies and clubs. Students can also volunteer for various NGOs if they want to.

Placement Experience

4.5

LSR has one of the best college placements for humanities courses. The highest package offered was of 37.8 lakh which is also the highest in DU and the average package offered is around 7-8 lakhs per annum. A good percentage of the students who applied for placements got placed in big companies like BCG, De Shaw, KPMG, etc with a handsome salary. The various profiles are offered by the companies but the profiles that really attract students are from consultation fields like junior analysts, research analysts, etc. Right now, I'm not sure about sitting for placements. But i'm planning for the same. After the degree, doing a full-time job is my first preference otherwise I'll just go for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for this course and college was Rs. 15,870 which is quite reasonable if you compare it with other course and colleges. The college provides scholarship/freeship opportunities to students every year. But the scholarship opportunity is for second and third years only. I didn't apply for the freeship in my first year and but many of my friends got the freeship from the college. But when the college releases the form for digital inclusion project in my first year under which the laptop and other facilities like internet connection, data pack, etc were being provided. I applied for the same and got my laptop within a few months which really did help me in this online mode education. The college also provides various paid and unpaid internships opportunities. To be honest, I really didn't apply for on-campus internships but my friends did. These internships really help in building your CV/Resume and with that your career.

Campus Life

3

As I got admission in 2020, so till now everything's is conducted in an online mode. All the events, workshops, and the fest are conducted in an online mode. Our college fest is Tarang and I think it is one of the best fest of DU. But unfortunately, we couldn't organise Tarang in 2021. But the college is considering of conducting it in an online mode in 2022. Also, we have our department fest named Econovista which is also organised every year in the month of january/February. Econovista was organised in 2021 in an online mode. College have various societies and clubs that students can join according to their interest. Department societies and clubs are also there. I never visited our library in this corona period. But as far as i know our college library is quite good and thousands of books and journals are available there. There are numerous extra curricular activities on the campus and anyone can participate in those activities if they wish to.

Other Applied Colleges

Hansraj College | B.com ( hons.)

I found LSR better than hansraj in most of the aspects.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
