A very true picture of the Online Economics honours program

For economics honours your best of four subjects in 12th class should include economics as a compulsory subject. Application form for LSR will be available on DU site as DU releases a combined form for all the colleges. Application fee is mentioned in the form itself if it exists. Application dates are released on DU's official site. Reservation benefits only include a little to no reduction in the cut-off from the general categories. This year the admission process was online which was a very good chance as it was much simpler, feasible and students could fill the form from their house. The verification process did take time which caused unnecessary tension among the students so the university can give a timely deadline for the verification process and all the other processes. I would personally recommend that DU, even if the Covid situation improves in the future, should consider online application submission as the standard application process from now onwards.

I chose this course as it is one of the best courses from one of the best colleges in the country. Also, I have had a genuine interest in economics from 9th standard. The faculty to student ratio is 1:10 ( for one section). The faculty members are highly qualified, DSE alumni, have been LSR's ex-students and their teaching method is quite justified. Though I strongly believe online system has ruined everything and there's no interaction or level of interest students have in the classes or the faculty. Everyone is bust with building their CVS and society work. Exams were conducted after 4 months after syllabus was completed and the difficulty level was high due to OBE. If the situation was offline, I would have developed a more genuine interest in the course and Classes.

Most of the big brand internship only select 1 or 2 students out the whole batch, while the pay is quite good around 1.5 lakh - 3 lakhs which can either a summer or winter Internship. Other internships are mostly unpaid and I didn't really got any internship from the college, I got either from a batch mate's reference or LinkedIn. So LinkedIn is very important.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the third year. Companies like Deutsche Bank, Urban Company, Amazon, HLU, DE Shaw, WIPRO, Bank of America etc visit the college. There are numerous profiles available from Marketing to finance, accounting to research. My plans after getting the degree is to appear for UPSC civil services exam.

Well the fees for each year is around 15k and I would have to pay for accommodation and all but for students who do not have gadgets I think the cost of study is still high. I didn't get any scholarship, financial assistance, or Job on campus as of now as I am still a 2nd-year student.

I cannot tell you about campus life. I am a batch of 2020 students who haven't even seen the college once. Books and journals are online available to us. Library facility can be accessed. Sports and extra curriculum are available and well diversified.
