A brief overview of IIT Guwahati

You need to clear JEE Advanced to get admission in Btech and BDes courses and then admission through JOSAA counselling. For appearing in JEE Advanced, one must clear the cut-off for JEE Mains. This year i.e 2022: Advanced will be on 3rd July as of now.

The Chemical Engineering course here at IIT Guwahati is a good choice. All the professors are highly qualified and experts in their field. Most of them teach very well. In some exams, you might find it difficult to score high but the grading is relative so it won't affect you much. In the 1st year, all students have the same courses. After that, you get introduced to your branch specific courses.

Here at IIT Guwahati, you will get many internship opportunities from your 2nd year onwards for a number of job profiles like consultancy, software, marketing etc. It all depends on your skillset and the profile you want to work in.

Also, you can apply for internships according to your skills from the 2nd or 3rd year. There are high chances of getting placed and that too with a good package. CSE students usually get higher packages but it mostly depends on the student. IIT Guwahati has a great research environment so you can also opt for higher studies. In chemical engineering, almost 90% of students were placed with an average salary of 22.5 LPA.

The institute reduces the tuition fees for students whose parents' annual income is less than 5 LPA. Also for SC/ ST students, there is a large reduction in fees. You can also get other scholarships from various sources. You get notified through college about the scholarships available from time to time. Also, you can get an education loan.

IIT Guwahati is considered as one of the most beautiful campuses. It provides good facilities and there are many clubs like Coding, Consulting, Finance, Electronics, photography, drama, singing and even for cooking we have a club called Palates, that you can join according to your interests. The annual cultural fest is 'Alcheringa' and the tech fest is 'Techniche'. We also have a great Library and sports facilities are also good. We even have a swimming pool. You can play any sport you like.
