Remarks

The admission to my college, NIT Kurukshetra is based upon the rank obtained in JEE Main. It is done via 6 rounds of online JOSAA counseling followed by 2 rounds of online CSAB counseling for vacant seats. The application for JEE Main and its execution is done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through the official website of JEE Main. Later on, JOSAA and CSAB have their websites for easing the seat allocation process. Also, there is a reservation policy based on caste and/or income. However, I did not avail of any such benefit. Although, I think that the admission process is very good in its way but still the authorities need to work on handling heavy traffics and timely delivery of promised things like seat allotment results or JEE scorecard as the websites often crash at crucial times.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

This course was the most promising out of all the options I was getting at my rank. Industrial Engineering is an amalgamation of Mechanical and Production technology with Business management. Till 2013, the course was named Industrial Engineering & Management but later it was named Production & Industrial Engineering with the latest updation in the syllabus in the year 2017. Regarding faculties, for lectures the ratio is 1:80 and for practicals, it is 1:20. More than 75% of the faculties teaching us are Ph.D. holders and around 50% are very interactive. Some of them teach with the traditional method of chalk and board only while some use smart screens and presentations also. The exams either Mid-Term or End-Term happen strictly as per the academic calendar where Mid-terms occur at a gap of 1 month and End Term at the end. The difficulty level is moderate in most subjects that can be passed with decent grades from class notes and one good reference book.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Companies that came with internship opportunities included Banks like Citi, AMEX; TCS, Hero, Udaan, Amazon, etc. The average stipend was 1 lac for two months while the highest was 3.75 lacs for two months.

Placement Experience

4

The placements are quite good in our NIT and it stands in the top 10 NITs in India. The students become eligible for internships in the 5th semester and placements in the 7th semester. The companies visiting here are Amazon, Flipkart, AMEX, Accenture, Hero, etc. There were 764 eligible students and 794 offers were made and the average package offered was 13.89 Lacs per annum in 2021. The median of offered salaries stood at 10.92 Lacs per annum. 82.72% of students were placed in 2021. The highest on-campus package was 1.25 crores in EE Department. I shall be aiming for higher studies in management.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is different for people in different income slabs. People with having family annual income of more than 5Lacs have to pay a tuition fee and hostel rent of about 77,000 INR along with mess bills of around 35,000INR. People having a family income between 1Lac to 5Lacs get a waiver of 75% in Tuition Fees only and for less than 1 Lac, it's completely waived off. Also, for SC/ST candidates there is no tuition fee. The fees are hiked yearly as per the guidelines of the Ministry Of Education as NIT Kurukshetra is a government-owned institution of national importance. Scholarships are provided on the rank achieved in the department by the institute. One can also get financial assistance from NIT Kurukshetra Alumni Association.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual tech fest is Techspardha and it is now being celebrated twice preferably in April &November. This year the second Techspardha is postponed to January. The annual cultural fest is Confluence and it is also now being celebrated twice in March/April and October. There are around 78K books in the book bank, 53K books in Library, and 30K digital resources including e-books, thesis, CDs/DVDs, etc. Classrooms are well equipped with smart screens and projectors and fully air-conditioned. There are almost all sports available here owing to a large sports ground and department. There are around 10 prominent cultural clubs, 5 technical clubs, and 3 social welfare societies.

Hostel Facilities

3

The room is well-painted, spacious, and has a good balcony. It has one large enough cupboard, one bed, one computer table, and two chairs. The bathroom infrastructure is not very well maintained although cleanliness is ensured. The meal is hygienic and moderate in taste and availability is also excellent. Registration for hostels is very simple. One just needs to submit a few documents and a fee payment receipt. It is very affordable as it costs only around 7K for one full semester. The hostels are located inside the campus.

Still it is new college you know that there is no certain records of placement. I am from 2nd batch of this college. But I would say it will provide enough good packages. In 2nd year you have to sit for internship as per the curriculum of this college. so out of 107 seniors, 85 students grabbed intership from the 2nd year. We hope we also be able to grab internship in 3rd year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am in the computer science and engineering branch. I want to be a software developer and I am passionate about coding and I love to code that's why I am chosen this branch. The faculty members of my college are awesome and helpful. They are well qualified and knowledgeable. They cooperate with students in every situation . they focus much on the weak student so they can also pass the exam. they use the blackboard and smart classes both to teach the student effectively. we have industrial exposure also. the well built spacious will have no importance if not for the wonderful faculty the college has. All are faculty members are highly knowledgeable and done their post graduation from one of the top colleges like IITS. and most of the teachers are GATE qualified and even it is not once. they are writing the exam regularly. so, if you prepare for the GATE exam, then you can get great help from them. they used to prepare us for the GATE exam, along with academics

I am a Delhite and my college is on outskirts of Delhi and also i being residing near du north campus used to think i will enjoy the same college life. but being into a professional (b.tech) course gave me a different view of college and its life. i came to know how to lead a professional ethic life, learnt some good meaningful things.college management is getting strict day by day for laws against students but the other tasks like things that need to be get done from peon are not getting done. ac's dont work even after complaints. in total the college needs a great improvement else it will keep running the business with no fruits.
