Admission into IITs is done through JEE ADVANCE examination. We can write JEE ADVANCE examination only after clearing the minimum cutoff in JEE MAINS examination. Students must have cleared 11th and 12th standard in order to give jee mains and advance. Any student who has completed his 11th and 12th examinations can apply for jee examination in JOSAA's portal. All the details about the examinations will be regularly uploaded to the JOSAA site. And for registration of jee mains, takes around 600rs per session. They conduct jee mains in multiple sessions out of them the best score will be considered for further process. If u qualify for jee main u can apply for jee advance. To get into IIT one has to clear JEE ADVANCE examination. Reservations are also present in JEE examinations, some seats are reserved for different backward castes and communities which u can avail of if u belong to any.

I was getting computer science and engineering(CSE) in 2nd gen IIT but I chose EEE in IIT Guwahati because it is an old and prestigious IIT and ranks 7 in the NIRF ranking among all engineering colleges in India. Electrical engineering is also a core branch so u can also get placed in core companies. I also feel that the Electrical branch has great potential in the future so I took this branch. The student-faculty ratio at IITG is pretty good it is around 1-10. U also have other teachers other than lecturers who will help u with your studies. Tutors, Instructors are also present who will help u to get a better understanding of lectures and they will help u solve questions after the completion of a lecture. The lecturers here are highly qualified and seem pretty intelligent but they fail to make average students understand the subject. There will be no person-to-person interaction always in the class so u have to work hard your self in order to get good grades and survive the competition.

Students get many internships from many popular companies and many abroad universities which IITG is partnered with. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Wipro, and many others visit IITG for providing internships to students, most of the internships are paid and they give stipends to students which might range from 10k to 1L per month. Students can work on internships during their winter and summer vacations also.

Placements in IITG are great. IITG has the highest average package in placements among all the IITs in 2022. Students can get into internships from 2nd year of their Btech itself and they even can get PPOs (pre-placement offers) way before their 4th year of Btech. Many popular companies v like Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, Tech Mahindra, Texas Instruments, Google, etc. visit IITG for placements. The highest package in the year 2022 was 1.2cr. The average package is between 20L to 25L. Nearly 90 per cent of students got placed in different companies. In EEE highest CTC is 48LPA and the average CTC is 25LPA. I want to get placed in a good company with good CTC after my degree if I didn't go into any company then I might be going for higher studies.

To complete 4 years in IITG and to get a degree from here will cost u around 12Lakh. Which of course is worth it and is normal for a good tier 1 college. This 12L also includes all the extra charges for sports, medical costs, and other things which IIT provides like cards, T-shirts etc. If u belong to any reserved category then u will have concessions and your fee will be much less than 12L for 4 yrs. If u belong to backward castes then u will get a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver. IITG also does provide scholarships for its students which u can view through the students' affairs section which u can only access through IITG's network. Scholarships like "Institute merit cum means scholarship" (MCM) and "Institute merit scholarship" (IMS) for economically backward students.

The campus life and culture at IITG are great. U get exposure to a lot of things. Not only in academics but u get a lot of learning in many different fields like sports, clubs, dance, music many others. There are many clubs available like music club, coding club, analytics club, dance club etc.. where u can join any and learn anything. The annual fest of IITG is called "Alcheringa" which is generally held in February and is conducted in a very flashy and grand way. The tech fest of IITG is called "Techniche" which gives chance to students to share their ideas and improve their practical skills. Classrooms and lecture hall complexes are very comfortable and do have high technology and they are very modern. IITG has a sports complex cum gym called "GYMKHANA" where students can enjoy playing indoor sports like badminton, table tennis, etc. And for outdoor sports, u get enough grounds to play anytime. Many student groups and social groups are being run by students which conduct many activities.

Hostels at IITG are good and they do provide all the basic needs of students. In hostels, u get a bed, table, cupboard, and fan. Messes are in hostels and u can eat there in your hostel. Hostels also have a volleyball court and a cricket ground in them. They also have a juice centre, canteen, pantry, music room, tv room, laundry etc. Bathrooms and restrooms in hostels are also frequently cleaned by workers. Hostels are well maintained from time to time and are cleaned frequently. Messes provide many varieties of foods and the menu keeps changing month to month so that students don't get bored with it. Registration for mess is simple u get a mess card that u can use to eat food.
