Remarks

Eligibility Criteria is based on the JEE Advance. Its eligibility criteria rank nearly less than 6000 in the general category. The application process is by first applying for JEE Mains and after clearing respective cut-offs for the respective Category to gain eligibility for appearing in JEE Advance. And after that achieving the required rank for various IIT Colleges and Branches cut-offs. I was an OBC candidate and so applied through the OBC quota and my rank was nearly 4000. IIT Guwahati ECE branch. Well, I can't see any better process. There are many benefits for reserve categories and Female students in cut-offs, the admission process, and throughout the college as well. I don't have many complaints about that but there are some added advantages for reserved categories and female candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

IIT Guwahati is a nice college (among old IITs). And ECE is a circuital branch. The best circuital branch I was getting in old IITs. And Guwahati, Assam(North East) is a beautiful place. I don't have any exact idea of faculty to student ratio. But I guess it's nearly 1:100. And also there are many Ph.D. students who also work as Teaching Assistants (T.A.) for tutorials and classes, who also assist with the doubts of students so that also balances. Faculty are very much qualified enough. And teaching method varies and depends on different professors and departments. But mostly you have to be very active to learn and study in lectures, nobody will push you to study hard or pay attention in lectures. It depends on you, and how self-aware you are. The exam schedule and timetable are fixed and set from the beginning of the year for both semesters. It's very easy to pass. An average student can score very good grades just by paying attention in class or just by studying a week before exams.

Internships Opportunities

3

There are quite a few internship opportunities in first and second year. And there is designated intern season after 4th semester during in July-August before 6th semester. Companies come for every major role in Tech as well as Non-Tech (like analyst, data science, and analytics) and there few companies for core. High paying interns are for Tech. There are intern offer upto 2 lakh, on an average there are intern offer of 50-60K. After intern season also there are few companies who contact college for intern during 5th and 6th semester. There's also very big alumni network of college, so there are few offers through referal. And 50-60% of total batch student get intern offer. And many student convert there intern offers into PPO. And also girls get intern offer more easily than boys. Many company take girls relatively more then boys during intern season.

Placement Experience

3.5

Generally, Campus placements take place after the 6th semester in December. But Companies come to college for internships in July after the 4th semester to select interns. And nearly 40-50% get intern offers and after that, there are few PPOs offers based on performance during the internship, and also there are few internship opportunities during second years too. There are internship offers up to 2 lakhs during intern season and companies come for almost all major profiles in tech and non-tech(like analyst, data science, analytics etc), there are few core companies too. And for placements companies come for every profile in core too. And also there placements offers up to 1.8Cr. Reputed Companies like Google, Mckinsey, Microsoft, Rubrick also attend the placement and intern season as well. Placement percentage is on an average 80-85%. Girls get more offers than boys in placements. I am planing for Bussiness analyst or Consulting or MBA after college from a good college.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are not any regular fee hikes in semester fees. There is a fixed 1,00,000 Tuition fee for every semester and other expenses of around 35,000 - 40,000 (hostel included depending upon the odd or even semester. Well, this cost is quite less compared to other private engineering colleges. So, the cost to study is around 1,40,000 per semester as of now. Yeah, there are scholarships for general and OBC students based on your family income. If your family income is below 5 lakhs then you can have 2/3 concession on the Tuition fee and full concession if it's below 2 lakhs. So, I got 2/3 concession due to a family income below 5 lakhs. And Jobs and Internships available on campus are pretty much self-evident on the internet. Yeah if you are averagely preparing for a particular job profile from the 2nd or 3rd year you can score an average job,

Campus Life

4

College life is very fun for an average student in normal times. Mine was very much lacking due to the pandemic. There are many fests in the college but there are mainly 3 fests: Alcheringa for Cultural fest- largest fest in the entire Northeast. It's full of many fun and cultural activities and competitions (like dance, drama, etc). Many people and Celebs attend this fest. Techniche for Technical fest -It's also quite fun and full of many technical competitions. Spirit for Sports fest - Many good and local colleges attend this fest. We have quite a massive library with more than 1 lakh books. And many journals of the previous Ph.D and professors. There is free 24*7 high-speed wifi in every building and hostel and free high-speed LAN in every hostel room. And 3 lakes and a mountain viewpoint in the campus. and few parks for residing professors and staff and their families There are Sports grounds for every game in the campus. And club for technical and cultural activity in college.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are many hostel facilities like free unlimited 24*7 LAN for internet and No Power and Water cuts. Water Cooler with filters and at every 10-50 meters from the room. And a washroom, urinal, and Toilet for 6 boarders and a washing machine for washing clothes for free. A hostel library for every hostel, & many indoor games like foosball, pool, carom, and table tennis. And also there are small grass grounds for football, cricket, badminton & volleyball in the hostel. There are instant & regular maintenance services & solutions for any fault with facilities in the hostel (like a power cut, water problem, room appliances etc. The meal is quite good as compared to an average mess food in various mess across India. The registration process is quite easy during admission. And hostel fee is 18k per semester quite affordable & reasonable. The hostel room will be far more comfortable & cheaper than any Rented or PG rooms. There are few rented rooms in locality rent is not that high I guess.

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIT Guwahati are excellent especially in the tech field ,with high placement rates and strong average packages generally Rs 30 lakh per annum. Top companies regularly visit the campus. After completing the course if i do not get placed on campus which is hardly possible i'll look for other off campus placements.
