Course Curriculum Overview
I chose History Honors as I am passionate about studying history and also as it would help me cover my topics and funda for UPSC examination. There are around 10 teachers in the history department giving the faculty:student ratio of 1:8. The faculties are very educated and experienced with great teaching methods. The teaching method includes debates, discussions, historical walks and so on. The semester exams happened in almost every 5-6 months and with a little attention and study they were easy to pass.
Internships Opportunities
The college itself provided internship opportunities with roles as website developer, graphic designing, social media and so on with stipend of 3-4k per month. The internship cell, which is a dedicated branch that looks into providing internships in all the possible fields, with stipends varying from 1k to 50k and sometimes even more. The roles are in all the fields including sales, marketing, content writing, business development etc.
Placement Experience
Usually students in the final years become eligible for placements, there are a few cases of second years getting placed as well. There is a dedicated placement cell to handle placements of students. A few companies include Bain & Co., Deloitte, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, ICICI bank etc. The highest package offered last year was 36.5 LPA with the average package being 7.3 LPA. Around 50% of the students get placed as the rest decide to continue with their Masters. I plan to prepare for UPSC examination post my graduation
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the college wasn't much and the reserved students were given various concessions. One of my friends also got a 50% scholarship on her fee as her family income was less (don't know other details).
Campus Life
The campus life is pretty good with various fests, events, socities activities taking places. The library is huge, fully air conditioned with a variety of books and is really well maintained. The classrooms have fans and ACs and the space is enough. There's a sports complex in the college for badminton, table tennis and a few other indoor games like chess. There is a field for cricket and football, a playfield for archery, a dedicated shooting room and a basketball court. There is no swimming pool in the college. There are way too many societies like more than 50 I would say and most of them are super active with one thing or the other going on.
Admission
The admission process required to clear the cut off list based on my class 12 percentage. It was required to clear the cut off with a language subject along with any 3 other subjects the list of which is mentioned on the DU website. All the necessary information about the process can be found on the DU website. No reservation was availed by me. The process has changed already as now there is a commen entrance test than your 12th percentage.
