Remarks

The college management is strict when it comes to discipline. The Directorate of Student Affairs looks into the behaviour and conduct of the students, and keeps a check on any mishappenings taking place anywhere in 10 km radius. The management is also undecisive on many fronts, as the students get to know about it a night before it would happen, sometimes an hour before, and would do anything to keep their students from going home like keeping classes in middle of a long holiday or making Saturday on.

Entrance Preview

UPESEAT, and obtained a national rank of 6242 in the examination. The main reason of opting for this college is the professionalism that is imbibed in the students, perfectly crafted courses in Computer Science and Engineering, which offers 15 specializations in collaboration with IBM ( I have opted for Business Analytics and Optimization), and a wide range of student chapters which provide us with an experience to be a part of a working organization with proper framework and opportunities to grow.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum for the first year aims at bringing awareness about what happens in the world and how. They consist of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Programming and Data Structures, DBMS, with electives being English Communication, Design Thinking, Environmental Studies. These subjects help the students to develop a scientific mind and think logically. The electives help to gain knowledge and bring all the students on the same platform.

Internships Opportunities

Our college has it's own Placement and Internship Cell. This cell provides the students with opportunities to go as an intern. These internships are mainly for 2nd year or 3rd year students, with some of the leading companies like IBM and Dell offering fresh opportunities every year. The stipend is not disclosed easily.

Placement Experience

4

Being a CIT student, the percentage goes up to 96% in terms of placement. Big companies like Microsoft, Ericsson, Indian Navy and Dell are some of the recruiters. Many startup companies visit the University too. The mass recruiting companies like TCS and Wipro do come on campus.

College Events

4.5

The annual cultural fest, Uurja, takes place in the month of November, having various events and band performance by a famous band. The annual tech fest, Ignite, takes place in the month of Feb-March, where students from various colleges take part. The UPES ACM Student Chapter organises its own tech fest, Prodigy, in April and CSI Student Chapter organizes its fest in Feb or March by the name of Yugmak.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college is expensive in terms of education. The annual fee, including all the facilities and academics, sums up to about Rs. 4-5 lakh. The semester fee for CSE students is somewhat near to Rs. 1.3 lakh. The hostels lie in the range of Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.6 lakh per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

The first scholarship is offered if you have scored 90% + in Board exams. Other scholarships are based on obtaining a GPA of 9.0 or more. The college offers loan facilities, which can be talked about during the counseling period.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus is full of life. Everyday, there are some activities and events taking place which act as a stress buster for students, from dance to coding to gaming. As it is located right in the lap of nature, the scenic beauty around the campus brings in positivity. The number of girls to boys is almost equal, and cannot really be compared. The University has students from all over India, and gives a perfect example of Unity in Diversity. The college offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, from Hackathons, MUNs, Aerospace competitions and many more. Every activity has a student chapter associated with it, for example, Vultus Kronos and Xhileration for dance, ACM and CSI for tech, and UPES MUN for MUN opportunities across India. The freshers party for the first year students takes place in the month of August. Students do get an opportunity to interact with authors and professors from different parts of the world. Workshops do take place to upgrade the skills of the student, from paid workshops like IIT-K and IIT-B, to free workshops organized by the seniors. There is no discrimination of any sort on the basis of gender, color, caste, creed and economic status. Everyone lives in harmony.

Hostel Facilities

4

The in-campus hostel has 2 parts, old and new. The old hostel have the standard hostel layout with common bathrooms and tri-sharing rooms, each one having their own almirah and study table with chair. The new hostel is twin sharing and has attached washrooms with excellent interiors. The mess food is not tempting, but is edible. The hostel consists of a garden and gym. The private hostels have their own set of facilities, from gym, salon, excellent food, transportation facility and playing facilities. They are a bit expensive, but worth it.

Alumni/Alumna

The college seniors are very helpful! They approach you and start guiding you the day you enter the college. They help you with studies and activities wherever possible, and do conduct teach back sessions on any technical front, if their juniors ask for it. The alumni network is very well established, being in different companies of India. They tell you their personal experiences through magazine articles and blogs, and do keep in touch and help wherever possible.

Exam Structure

The exams and tests happen on a regular basis, monitoring the performance of the student. Online tests, termed as Class Tests or Reflection Tests, happen on Saturday and Sunday. The mid semester exams and the end semester examinations are the most important, taking place in the mid and end of the semester. Every 45 days is a Common Class Test to assess the preparation of the student, a pen and paper examination. The final exams have a weightage of 50% in the final results, while the rest form the remaining 50%.

Admission

The notification was received through the newspaper giant The Times of India in the month of December. The form was filled online and payment made through Net Banking. The examination took place at a school nearby, after which the selected students were called for counseling in Delhi. It consisted of lectures and description about the institute, followed by filling the form where the preferences for the courses were asked. These preferences had to be filled according to the seat matrix being updated regularly. The form was submitted and the DD for the first semester fee was taken. Any inquiry could be cleared at the help desk. On the first day of joining, the final registration was carried out, including verification of details submitted to the University.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college is experienced and knowledgeable. All the professors are PhD s. Some professors are really very good, but many of them do not care if you are attending the class with open mind or not. They tend to bore the students, and are not able to create interest. It is all about how interactive the student is and if he can make most of them or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is highly relevant, focusing on practical knowledge for real-world prep, though more hands-on application and updated content would strengthen it. Exams occur 6 times yearly; they are tough but fair for the course.
