Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

For me, I was always interested in literature and this is the career that I want to opt for. I chose this course as it was directly connected to my goal of becoming a lecturer. Our college has a great English Faculty and with one section of just 50 students, it becomes super convenient for the teachers to look after everyone. I think the faculty is highly qualified and does take its time in teaching us timely. The term exams were conducted timely which is twice a year and it wasn't difficult to pass if you just focused on your studies.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There is the Placement Cell in our college that carries out drives and also keeps posting their internship opportunities on Instagram for further updates. The projects were told by the companies at that time only and yes many students were also placed in the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

In my first year, the fees were around Rs. 16,500 which itself is a little high but still, it got hiked in the second year to Rs. 20,000 and even more in the third year. The final fee I am paying for this year is Rs. 22,500, all of this has put a major hole in our pockets as there are even examination charges for each exam. Despite DU being comparatively cheaper, still, the prices are still increasing.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest is 'Yamuna' conducted in March which is mainly for the conservation of the river Yamuna and that is what the event is based on. It is different compared to other colleges and that is what makes it even more better. Books and journals of any subject are available in the library and the classrooms are well furnished. For sports, hockey is what is mainly known as the pride of Shyam Lal and even then other sports are also preferred. There are various clubs and societies run by students and I am the president of the Dramatics Society so can say that these amenities make it special.

Admission

During my admission time, there was a cut-off system and hence I secured my seat according to the best of the 4 subjects that I scored from. The eligibility of my admission was simple as should just have English as one of my main core subjects and the rest of everything depended on my marks. Major Improvements and shifts that happened after my year at CUCET came about, now there are entrances for everything which is both a pro and a con.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
