Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I was always interested in electronic stuff, robotics, and all. Moreover, there is involvement of both software and hardware in this course which sets it apart. At IIT Guwahati, the faculties are top-notch. Initially, they might seem boring but slowly you will get used to it. Almost all the faculties are PhD Scholars with a great educational background. Sadly, exams are conducted very frequently in IITG.
Internships Opportunities
Being a 1st year, I don't have much idea about internships but watching the seniors I can surely say that building your skills and internships will be in your hand. Various companies also offer PPO(Pre Placement Offer) while in internships.
Placement Experience
3rd semester onwards students try to sit for internships and all, placements generally take place in the 4th year. Various big companies visit our campus for recruitment like Google, Amazon, Oracle, Uber, etc. Almost 90-92% gets placed from our branch. I plan to work for a great company then will think of a startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
For EWS, SC, ST, and families with a low income, there are many scholarships to assist their financial assistance. Out of 132000 semester fees they could easily get a 100000 deduction. There are many Governmental and non-governmental scholarships too which can be found on the Indian government website.
Campus Life
When we talk about fests and all, IITs stand ahead. The annual Tech fest of IITG is called Alcheringa. This has the bulk of activities for everyone. From mind-boggling robot fights to glamorous musical nights, it has everything. Apart from this, IITG also has other great fests like Techniche and various sports championships
Hostel Facilities
There is no problem faced by us while in the hostel. It has a 24×7 water supply. The mess food is also good. Sadly there is no AC in the room but fans work great. The maintenance of the hostel is outstanding. The hostel culture is also excellent with people doing all kinds of creative stuff like wall paintings on the main gate and many others.
Admission
First, we need to clear JEE Mains and then we will be eligible for JEE Advanced. Once we get selected in JEE adv with a decent rank we can enter in an IIT with a good branch. There are only two attempts of JEE advanced, one before 12 boards and one after a drop year. All other information regarding the exam can be found at www.jeeadv.ac.in. In 2023 we had to secure at least 75% in 12th boards for qualifying the criteria of both Mains and advanced.
