- The cost of things is high compared to other cities
- The hostel rooms can be small as because it is shared
- Grading can be bit too strict and exams can be a bit too hard
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen Chemical Engg because it has a mixture of various core Engg fields and has tons of opportunities. In the first yr student teacher ratio is quite high but as the years go on it decreases as the courses become more specialized. The faculties have really good qualifications and some of them teach well. We have a harsh but fair grading system and the difficulty varies from course to course
Internships Opportunities
Projects are given to students from the second years by the professors or one can come up with the idea. On-campus internships are also available for 2nd and 3rd yr students. Big companies like Google and Microsoft visit our campus.
Placement Experience
About 80-90% of the students get placed. The median is highest among all IITs abt 21.5lkhs per annum. The highest package this time was above 1cr per annum and a lot of high-profile companies from various fields visited us
Fees and Financial Aid
For the General students, they have to pay 100% of the fees and can't avail of any scholarship. The other categories have their tuition fees waivered. However, the fees is still less than most private colleges considering they are giving the best education
Campus Life
The annual fest is Alcheringa held in Feb while the Tech Fest is held in August and is called Techniche. We have a huge library with superb books. Some classrooms have Acs and some don't but they all have projectors and blackboards. We have a lot of different clubs each suited to one's interest and has a variety of sports from Tennis football cricket volleyball etc
Hostel Facilities
We hv been given a bed... a cupboard and a balcony. Food quality depends upon hostel to hostel and ours is quite decent. Rent is affordable abt 1k per month. We also hv an open ground a volleyball ground a sports room and a gym room
Admission
Admission is given based on the performance and rank in JEE ADV. Based on our rank and category u are given a seat. There are 6 rounds of counselling after which the seat is finalized. Jee Adv is one of the toughest exams in the world and one has to be in the top 0.1% to get a seat in IITG
