Course Curriculum Overview
I am pursuing BA (Economics) Hons which is considered as one of the most difficult course in Delhi University. I choose this course because it is based on Mathematics in Economics, Applications for Economics and I have a keen interest in the subject 'Economics'. The faculty ratio in my course is quite good which is 4:50. The qualification of our faculty is very good like the teachers have masters and PhD degrees in Economics. The term exams are held very timely in every 4-5 months and it is quite difficult to pass the exams but with consistently practising one can pass with good marks.
Internships Opportunities
In my college, their is a internship cell which offer students to do both offline and offline internships in the field of their interest. This cell is not that active but it gives decent number of opportunities for internship to the students with good stipend.
Placement Experience
In my college, th students are eligible for campus placements after the completion of 5th semester. The average package offered to the students is Rs 5 Lakhs and the highest package offered to a student was around Rs 8 Lakhs. In my college, the students who are placed in a company are majoritly from B.Com and B.Com(Hons) course. After completing the UG degree, probably I will go for a master's degree or I will pursue CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
Fees and Financial Aid
I am currently studying in 2nd year of BA (Economics) Hons in Shyam Lal College and my course fees for 2nd year is Rs 22680 which is higher than my course fees in 1st year which was Rs 20500. So clearly their is a slight hike in my course fees in 2nd year. My study cost is low as we are provided with relevant readings for our course at a very low price. Till now, I don't know much about any scholarships provided to us. Campus jobs are pretty normal and the stipends are also decent.
Campus Life
In my college, their are many clubs and societies which actively conduct events and fests in our college and also actively participate in inter college competitions. The library of our college is filled with knowledge as it contain all the books related to all courses and also have journals of famous people. In our classroom, we have single seater benches, white board and fans. In sports, my college actively participate in almost every sport and my college has a huge ground of football. The infrastructure of my college is quite good and amenities are quite normal.
Admission
My admission in Shyam Lal College ( Delhi University) was done by giving a entrance exam called CUET (Common University Entrance Exam). The Eligibility Criteria for my course that is BA (Economics) Hons is that the candidate should study and opt Mathematics in class 11th & 12th and should give a CUET Test for Mathematics. For Economics Hons CUET Test, candidate should give one language test (Hindi, English, etc), one compulsory subject which is Mathematics and two subjects which a candidate has studied in class 12th.One can find all the important dates for admission and application on Delhi University official website and on CUET website portal. One improvement I want to see in the admission process is to improve the servers of CUET portal because when some important things come on portal related to admission, it crashes due to high traffic of users.
