What Students Say

Likes

Canteen facility is the best here. They offer healthy, fresh foods always
The library facility is good here. The library has a lot of books.
The faculty members are good they explain things in very proper manner.

Dislikes

There is no hostel facility so the candidates coming from distance faces some issues in staying at PGs
There is no cultural fest and freshers occurred here
The sudden rise in price is literally too high to be paid

Course Curriculum Overview

I choosed this course coz I wanted to learn both hard and software courses. There is 6:1 students teacher ratio. The faculty is highly qualified and they all of them teaches us in very proficient way. The internals exams are a little bit difficult to get a good score.

Internships Opportunities

There is some company like BSNL where the students from 3Rd or 4th years go for industrial visit. But there is no such oppertunity for intership with stipend . This is the another bad things about our colllege.

The students become eligible for campus placement from 4th year onwards. The highest package is 10lpa and avg is 6.6 LPA. The placement percentage is 85%. My plan after getting the degree is to crack gate so ths

Fees and Financial Aid

From our semester this year the price hiked 25K high every year and the total cost per semester is 70075 rupees . I have applied SVMCM scholarship which covers 60000 per year. There is some twf seats which covers the necessary financial assistance.

Campus Life

The campus life is very bad here . There is no annual or tech fest conducted here. The library facility is good and there are a lots of books here. But there is some developed structure in sports. There is enough space for practicing Table tennis, badminton, cricket, football and caram.

Admission

I took the admission through WBJEE exam, by which I was allotted in this college. Application fees was 1600/- and it was at around 28th December, 2022. There was reservation benefits for ST,SC, OBC & PWD candidates and also for TWF candidates

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

See,I didn't get good percentile in jee advance and so I choose to give wbjee exam to get a seat in engineering colleges and I got a rank of almost 17k where I got cse department in 2nd phase of wbjee counciling.I choose St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology because the fees is very low compare to other colleges as I don't get jadavpur university or any other top in that rank and I am very happy from my decision because of you need a college that gives placement and fees is not too high .This college is best for that....Read More
