Remarks

I still have a lot time left with my course so I cannot not say any negative or criticize the college in the very beginning. One thing I can say is that I have made some really good friends in the college life and it is really enjoying. In terms of facilities, it is acceptable but as mentioned earlier it needs to be improved. In total, I would say, time spent here has been good so far and I liked it.

Entrance Preview

Criteria for getting into this college is totally based upon the cutoff percentages of Delhi University and according to the marks scored in class 12 th boards examination. No such interviews were taken. I opted for this college because of some reviews from my seniors and friends already studying there.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Fees for the college costs around Rs. 15000 per year and totalled out to be Rs. 50000 for the whole course. The facilities needs to be improved because they didn’t match up the standards for what we are paying. Overall, it is somewhat affordable because it is inclusive of all the facilities.

Internships Opportunities

Till now, there is no provision for internships offered by the college but there isn’t any obstructions on applying off-campus. Although, attractive stipends are not provided to students of JDMC and that is mere Rs. 1.5k for a month. Apart from that, job environment was great and opportunities of growth can be seen. Nowadays, it is almost mandatory to bag certain number of internships on completion of the course.

Placement Experience

3.5

There is a placement drive in the college that handles all the placements going on. I don’t know much names of the companies visiting here but one of them is TCS which is a renowned MNC of India. Placements for Computer Sciences and Commerce branch is better when compared to other established courses. Well, I am still not eligible for placement and this is all I know.

College Events

3

Fests are organized for all departments of the college. A series of events happen almost after a short duration and that include some of the famous events like Annual Day, cultural fests, Founders Day and Miss JDMC. The only thing students are asked to do is arranging sponsors for the event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Course structured is defined according to the guidelines of Delhi University and focuses on practical learning making it easier to understand the course better. To keep up a track record, we have to maintain a number of research papers and projects. In terms of other interdisciplinary courses, we got a variety of options to embrace the standards like sociology, insurance, philosophy, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not availing any scholarship from the college or the govt. and haven’t applied for any education loan, I don’t much about this. But what I have heard from some of my mates is they are getting some scholarship from the college and they are limited to only a handful of students depending on their academic status and involvements in extra-curricular activities.

Campus Life

3.5

Our college has a very good exposure to sports apart from studies and organizes inter college annual Basketball Championship, Football meets, Volleyball and Cricket tournaments. Other than this, a dance, as well as music society, is there in the college for students to explore their talent. A series of workshops, based upon uses of subjects as industrial applications, are held at frequent intervals.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

I live in a PG rented near my college which is an expensive affair because the PG owners charge a huge sum of money. Also, travelling is costly here. The reason of not living in the hostel is that we don’t have one in our college. But recently, construction work has started and going on with a good pace. There are assurances by the college regarding construction work that is to be completed in a year.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni meets are organized by the college almost every year giving an option for interactions and getting feedbacks from the seniors. It is treated as a major event of the college with larger involvement.

Exam Structure

We have a very supporting exam system in our course and that is divided into 6 semesters with 4 exams in each semester. Internal Score carry a weightage of 25% and hence 75% for external score that is allocated via a university test. Although there is a pressure of handling a number of exams but at the end of the day, it seems justified.

Faculty

4

Faculty is the area where I think is JDMC is really better. Our teachers are highly qualified having atleast masters degree with them and some of them even have PhD degrees as well. Apart from guest lecturers, our college has a really good team of helpful and nice faculty members. One thing I really don’t like is shuffling of faculties into other colleges because it somehow disturb a student’s connection and bonding with teachers.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
