An insight into IIT Guwahati

I choose this course as I am interested in the design and manufacturing of chips and IC devices. The faculty to student ratio is pretty good. All the faculty members are highly qualified and had a pretty good teaching experience. All of them have done their phd from prestigious institutions all over the world. The teaching is way more pratical,there would be interactions in the class and the faculty make sure that every student is coping up with the lectures. There would be quizes,midsem and endsem in a semester. It is not very difficult to pass, we can easily pass if we pay attention to classes.

A number of companies provide us internship. Some of them are Microsoft, Google, Amazon, JP Morgan, Bajaj, Uber etc. Companies like Amazon, Google has a stipend of one lakh per month. They provide Software roles, Design roles, core jobs etc

Campus placements start from fourth year of Btech. Students also get a pre placement offer from their respective internship companies based on their performance in the internship. We have both domestic offers and international offers. We had the highest package of 1.2 crore. The average package stands at 20 lack's per annum

The fees per semester is 130000. There are a lot of scholarships to avail. The fees structure is less for financially backward sections . But education loan is also available so we can even avail that but with the paid fees we feel it's ok .

We have an annual cultural fest called Alcheringa. It is the biggest fest of North East India. It generally take place in the months of February/ March. Our college also hosts Udgam. It is the biggest entrepreneurship fest in which students from all over the country participate. Our college library has a wide variety of books. We have the advanced technology and all the classrooms are equipped with projector and router. We have a number of clubs. Students can join in those clubs based on their personal interests.

Our hostels provide us with study tables, beds,fans etc. All the hostel rooms have Lan provision. Every hostel has its own mess. The menu of the mess is decided by the respective hostels by conducting meetings. Food is cooked in hygiene conditions and with good quality ingredients. The hostel fees is included in the semester fees of students.

To get into IIT, we need to clear two entrance exams. The first entrance exam is jee mains. There would be cutoff marks to clear this exam. The cutoff marks are different for different categories of students based on their reservations. Upon clearing jee mains, we need to clear jee advance. The pass marks are different for different categories of people. Based on our marks in this exam we will get an All India rank. With this rank after the counselling sessions,we will get into IIT.
