Remarks

The only problem with our university is that they do don't have a hostel for boys and as most of them who come from outside Delhi have to look for pg's which in the case for some students can become quite expensive as well as be difficult for those who live far off from the university.

Entrance Preview

While going through various newspapers one may have noticed the name Delhi University pop-up quite often and especially during the admission processes of colleges it somewhat even takes the significance of headlines. Lakhs of students apply for Delhi University just to grab a seat for themselves.I didn't want to get into this rat race and opted for Ambedkar University out of my own curiosity so that I get to enjoy a vastly different college vibe than the others.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

According to my point of view, the course curriculum that is provided is quite intensive and is heavily relies on research and development. As I am pursuing a bachelors in economics, my course curriculum includes macroeconomics 1, Macroeconomics 2 , micro 1 , micro 2 , statistics, mathematical models of economics and the Indian economic history.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college does provide internships to the students. I haven't applied for the internship this year but I according to my knowledge, one can enroll in part-time jobs from the first year only such as in social welfare schemes like NGO's and students have also worked part-time in various restaurants. The companies which provide internships are usually from the e-commerce and banking sectors such as Flipkart, Citibank etcetera.

Placement Experience

3

The placements usually take the form of summer placements where students can apply for a job in the midst of their MBA degree and then there are the final placement opportunities where one can enroll for a job after completing their MBA or MA degree. The companies that put forward their names are from the banking, automobile, aviation, e-commerce background like Audi, Air India, Citibank etc.

College Events

4

The wide variety of events take place ranging from sports events to cultural programmes. Ambedkar University holds its annual sports meet which usually takes place during the months of October-November. Then there are debates, entrepreneur meet, inter-college competitions. However, the most famous is AUDACITY which is an annual cultural festival in which students from different universities in Delhi can participate as well as interact with others.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Comparing with other government established colleges like that of Delhi University, the fees at Ambedkar University can seem to be a little bit higher because our is a state established university.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship provided to the students depends on their merit score. The students getting 8 CPI and above are provided with a rupee 5000 scholarship and CPI 9 and above are provided with a scholarship of rupee 10000.

Campus Life

3.5

Ambedkar University consists of students coming from all over India as well from the parts of Africa along with the Middle East. Gender-based or religion based bias cannot be seen as the students try to engage and support each other just like a social community. For extracurricular activities, our university boasts of basketball courts, football field, cricket pitch, volleyball practice, table tennis along with the provision of labs for carrying out the practical part of our academic curriculum.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There is only a hostel within the vicinity of the campus which is called 'Kaveri Girl's Hostel' and is for the girls. There is not one for the boys. So, that proves to be a problem. The mess food is satisfactory and their monthly inspections done for the hygiene for the food by the health department. Apart from that the boys have look for sharing rooms with their classmate or can look forward to pg's(paying guest).

Alumni/Alumna

I haven't interacted with the seniors very much and so I can't help with the issue but on the basis of others, I can tell you that the seniors are the best viable option through which one can discuss the career options available to one and help students to get accustomed to the college environment.

Exam Structure

At Ambedkar University, there are variable assessments conducted for each of the particular courses. For eg: In our economic course during the first semester, there were 5 assessments which were conducted comprising of our written exams along with our lab tests which were conducted at the end of the month.

Admission

Just like the other colleges of DU, the selection of students at Ambedkar University is through merit based (best out of four marks). During my admission, my name appeared on the 2nd cut off list so the process started from there. The first thing that had to be completed was to register for the particular course that one wants to enrol in and that registration took place at the Karampura campus of Ambedkar University. After completing the registration , all the students who had opted for a campus transfer at Kashmere Gate had to provide an email to head of the academics department at the Kashmere Gate campus. Afterwards, those who had their names on the campus transfer list could opt for the same and those who had opted for the campus transfer but didn't get their names put up on the list had to continue at the Karampura campus of Ambedkar University.

Faculty

4

The faculty of Ambedkar University consists of dynamic highly profiled staff. All the teachers are thoroughly qualified for each of their courses and also provide proper understanding to the students so that the students are able to grasp the information provided which would further help them in shaping a better future for themselves. All the teachers are diligent, down to earth and are available 24*7 whenever a student wants to clarify their doubts.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
