Remarks

In conclusion our college is a fine place for striking a balance between extra curriculars and academics. The infrastructure could see a little improvement but the current authorities are working on it diligently and lots of new amenities have been added for a fresh year.

Entrance Preview

I opted for this college mainly because of the moderately lower cutoffs compared to the other Delhi University colleges. The infrastructure was very good and the students of the college were very helpful regarding admission criteria. The accessibility of a metro station was not as bad either. Being a woman's college it was pretty safe too.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum in the philosophy department is diverse as well as interesting but not too drab. Each semester tackles a completely different avenue of the vast subject of philosophy and helps develop young minds. So far we have covered Indian and Greek philosophy as well as logic and ethics. Each of them was extremely intriguing and diverse.

Internships Opportunities

Our college provides internships with the placement cell. The overall experience is good. This provides an opportunity to add something to a CV.

Placement Experience

2

The placements opportunities are not adequate. I have just completed my first year at this college so I may not be aware of all of the information but since ours is an arts and commerce college, the placement opportunities are limited and only reach out to the economics students or the commerce students.

College Events

4

Our college never fails to celebrate an occasion. From Republic day to the independence day. Various cultural societies are involved in the preparation of these shows. In addition to hosting the Bollywood celebrity Varun Dhawan, our college has organized the Sahitya Kala sammelan for the Hindi Academy. Also, each major society and department of the college organizes a fest throughout the academic year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is pretty affordable since it is a government college. The annual fees for my course is under nine thousand rupees. The fees may vary for other courses but it remains more or less around the figure of ten - eleven thousand annually.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a concessional fee for economically weaker students and a scholarship is available too. I do not have much information about these.

Campus Life

3

The campus life is pretty mellow but gets a new kind of a life when the fests are approaching. There are a lot of extracurriculars in our college. From dance, music, fashion to judo. The NCC and NSS remain quite active all year round. The dramatics and literature societies hold various events and activities too.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are no hostel facilities in our college, therefore, we do not have a mess. We have a canteen which is not the best. A limited amount of dishes are available along with basic beverages. The charges are affordable and that is a positive point. Other than that there is a good joint at walking distance.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are helpful and friendly. Our department has a few notable alumni and I have personally talked to one. She was great.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is really the same at every Delhi university college. Seventy five marks are for the theory exam that commence at the end of every semester and the remaining twenty five marks are internal assessments, five out of which are for attendance. The rest twenty marks are scattered in projects, presentations, tests etc.

Admission

The cutoffs for this college were a bit lower than other colleges. After the release of the second cutoff I gathered all my documents from twelfth standard (originals as well as copies) along with the special custom du form printed out. I carried two passport size photos and reached the college. The student union had setup a help desk outside the college gate abd were keenly helping all the students and parents organize their documents. After which only the students were allowed to go into the campus and register themselves. Once registered they had to get their documents verified in the computer lab and submit them in the administration office. Once the admission slip was provided from the admin office we were sent to the department faculty members in order to register ourselves there and select a general elective. We payed our fees on an online portal the same evening and the admission was finalised.

Faculty

4

The faculty of my college is really qualified and hard working. Professors from my department ensure that the syllabus is completed well before time and always welcome the students to join in the extra tutorials they hold weekly in order to compensate.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
