Course Curriculum Overview
I myself got electrical engineering as my branch which is the toughest branch in engineering (that's my POV). The subjects were not so easy, you need to be consistant in study in order to get a good marks in the exams. In the core subjects of electrical branch, you will learn about the electrical machines, power systems, control systems, measurement instruments and other subjects. These subjects are well needed for industrial purpose. In my college there is two main exams, one is mid sem (30marks) and other one is end sem (50marks). There are also minor exams and lab exams which is held between mid sem and end sem.
Internships Opportunities
There are more than 30 companies which offered summer internships to third year students. Mainly they are AWS, Oracle, Atlassian, Deutche Bank, Cisco, City Bank, BPCL, Siemens, Bosch Global Software technologies, TVS Motors, Cairn Oil and Gas, Fractal Analytics, Unistring, Accenture, SAP India etc. The main roles they provide are SDE intern and Summer analyst.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, the students are eligible for placements. There are more than 500 companies which have visited our campus and more than 700 offers were made last year. Last year the highest package was 80lpa and the average package was around 12lpa. More than 70 percent of the students were placed in the last year. My plan is to get a job after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee is not that high for this college. I pay around 40k each semester including the hostel fee and admission fee. So a total of 3.2 lakhs will be spent during my whole b.tech life. There are various scholarships available in the b.tech life period. In a maximum of these, your family's yearly income should be less than 1 lakh. You can visit the national scholarship portal for the details of all the scholarships available. I have done my summer internship at ONGC Sivsagar branch.
Campus Life
So there are basically two main fest celebrated in our college. The cultural one is INCANDESCENCE and the technical one is TECHNOESIS. NIT Silchar has the biggest digital library in the whole of Asia. It has around 1 lakh books. The faculties are quite experienced and the classrooms are very neat, and clean and are available with projectors and mics.
Hostel Facilities
I have two roomates. In my room there are two fans, three beds, three table and chairs. The bathrooms are cleaned everyday by the workers. In our hostel, the mess food is decent. One can easily fall in love with the lunch and dinner of our hostel. But it is difficult to fall in love with the breakfast though. At the time of semester registration, the hostel registration is done during that. It's a easy process, you just have to take sign of the hostel warden.
Admission
The admission process was quite smooth. The couselling authority has well taken care of the whole process. After getting the final result of JEE mains, I fill out the application form which was released in the JOSAA website. Luckilly at that time I have found a youtuber called Adarsh Barnwall. His videos helped me lot in the whole application process. He has built a rank predictor app where I can simply put my rank and it will show me the probable colleges where can I get the seat. It also shows the previous year cutoff ranks and percentiles. So if you have the reservation benifits, you will definitely get the NIT of your state if your AIR is below 2lakh. According to me, JEE mains is not that tought exam. You just need 1 or 2 months of consistant hard work to get a good rank in this exam.
