Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum in the Electrical Enginnering department is comprehensive and provides a solid foundation. Labs are well equipped and remain open throughout the day. Professors are knowledgeable and professional. However the curriculum can be updated to include modern Electrical Enginnering topics such as Advanced PE, Electric Vehicles, etc. Exams are held twice a semester. Difficulty is relatively moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Companies that visit for internships include Amazon, SAP, Uber, MoEngage, Samsung, ServiceNow, etc. Roles offered are mostly software based or analyst. Projects that are helpful are full-stack projects and ML/AI related projects.
Placement Experience
Placements are provided from the beginning of third year, fifth semster, when companies start visiting for internships. On average, more than 100 companies visit the campus and make offers. Total number of offers made would be around 600. Companies like Amazon, AWS, Deloitte, Capegemini, Microsoft, Uber, Swiggy, Paytm and PSUs visit the campus. Highest package offered was 52 LPA and average package was around 14 LPA. More than 95% students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure is divided into 2 parts - Academic fees and hostel fees (if availing hostel accommodation). Academic fees without scholarship is around 55000 per semeseter and hostel fees is arounf 15000 per semester. Total cost for 4 years without availing any scholarships would come around to 6 lacs. However, scholarship is available for eligible students. For SC and ST students, academic fees is completely waived off. For OBC students, it is waived off to some extent.
Campus Life
Campus life is vibrant. There are numerous cafes to socialize and hang around. There are also a number of clubs that students actively participate in, including Music Club, Dance Club, Drama, Quiz, Coding, Machine Learning, Robotics, NCC, etc. Clubs offer students a chance to socialize as well as improve their technical and soft sills. Sports is also celebrated and adequate infrastructure is provided. There are provisions of football, cricket, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball, kho-kho and others. There are 2 main annual fests - Tecnoesis, the annual technical fest and Incandescensce, the annual cultural fest. Tecnoesis offer students a platform to display their technical skills, including robotics, hackathons, quizzes etc. Incandescensce has seen numerous nationally recognised artists take the stage including Mohit Chauhan, Darshan Raval, etc. The library is one of India's largest and well-equipped with books and digital publications of all kinds.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are provided to students of all batched. Everyone except final year students get sharing hostel rooms. Sharing can be 2 seater or 3 seater. Final year students get single rooms. Hostel rooms are alloted on a first come first serve basis in the beginning of each year by the Hostel Supervisor. Meals are provided in the mess and are of good quality.
Admission
I took JEE Mains 2019 for entrace. Cutt off at our time was around 90%ile for GEN home state and 96%ile for GEN other state. Application form can be found at NTA webiste for JEE Main. They ask basic details and you have to pay a application fees. Frequency of exam was 2 times. Once in January and once in April. The admission process can be improved by making it more streamlined.
