Course Curriculum Overview
The course for electrical engineering taught in the university is relevant in comparison to the GATE curriculum. It increases the real world problem solving skills of the students making them ready for the real world.

The Training and Placement cell of NIT Silchar consists of people who are very hardworking and determined to provide jobs to their fellow mates. Few companies visit the campus for internship opportunities.
Placement Experience
Placements of NIT Silchar is quite decent. The median package offered during BTech and Mtech placements of 2023 stood at 13.95 LPA and 6 LPA respectively. A toatl of 694 students were placed out 694 students were placed out of 823 students.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee paid by the unreserved students here is almost 2 lakhs (including mess fee). For the SC/ST students, they don't need to pay any course fee, they need to pay only the hostel fees. Students need to pay according to the income bracket they fall into. Various scholarships are available.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite peaceful. Our campus is lush green, and the sunsets here are the epitome of beauty. Lots of clubs are present, and there's no limit to how many clubs one student can join. These clubs help in personality development. Cubicles are also provided to students with start up ideas.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are functional with basic amenities like canteen, 24*7 water and electricity supply and a canteen been provided. The hostels are quite old so the condition of the hostels is quite okayish. Mess food is not upto the mark.
Admission
The process of seat was held through JOSAA and CSAB counselling. Fee has to be paid to be able to seat for JOSAA. Admission in NIT Silchar is purely based on the JEE Mains score, there's no management quota available. Reservation is there. Admission process was offline, one has to report to college for complete admission process.
Faculty
A significant portion of the esteemed faculty members boast doctoral degrees from prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), with a notable subset having pursued advanced research through postdoctoral fellowships in foreign universities. They are very friendly with us, and help us with future scope.
