Likes
- The placement scenerio is really good , the campus is eco-friendly and nature friendly . The competitive nature among students is awesome
- Faculties are top-notch and full of knowledge.
- The laboratories for experiment is fully equipped .
Dislikes
- The politics by students . For an engineering college thier should be innovative thoughts not political
- The location of the institute, its located where connectivity is not that good.
- Some of the professors treat us as we dont know anything even if we learning that particular for the first time
Course Curriculum Overview
Well when I was first attempting my JEE mains exams I want to study computer science engineering . But results decided my fate . But even though i was not intrested first , now i really feel like this course is better than CSE . For real world applications their are practical classes with various apparatus required in original power system . There are machines of different types and all. I personally don't feel like its need any improvement as this course is already very good. Frequency of exams i can say like in every 1.5 month there will be exams like (minor , class test, assessment , mid sem , end sem , lab exams ) . And each subjects hold its own difficulties
Internships Opportunities
For internships also TnP hold responsibilites , for internship 3rs year students are eligible . many companies like microsoft amazon etc visits campus and which provide stipends monthly wise . And to get into internship we have to qualify from OA and interview. Projects are based on real life problems which were mentored by faculties .
Placement Experience
For campus placements the students should be at 7th or 8th semester basically 4th year students are only allowed . Sorry can't determine companies but yes in our college on top 500 companies in world can only come to provide placements . Recently the highest package on-campus is 63lpa and off-campus is 1.3CPA . This year due to recession the % of students placed gradually dropped but upto last year overall around 75-80% students were placed . My plan is to get a job after getting degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tutions fees varies with categories for general (71000rs) , for OBC (54000RS) , for ST/SC/pwd (10500rs) per semester each . And i personally feel like the difference is huge even though i belong to ST category its feel like discrimination. As my tution fees is low and after adding my mess fees and other charges it will go upto 3-4 lakhs for my course . Sorry can't be able to name the scholarships but yes in our campus in academis building their is a section for scholarship which grants a easy process for appling scholarships . For employment , there is TnP(training and placement cell ) which negotiates with companies to visit our institution with placement oppotunities . And we students simply have to give OA(Online Assessment) , and after shortlisting we get chance to sit for interview with HR.
Campus Life
Incandansce if our annual cultural fest and Technoesis is our technical fest and they are hold in febuary and october respectively . Our campus library is awarded as asias 2nd largest digital library so from it you can guess the range and accessibilty of books and journals available. Each classrooms have its personnel projector and green board . The sports culture of our college is very good we have every sports ground and features . And also there are inter NIT competition hold each year and we gladlly participate it even our college won some spots in all sports . Abd even there are many clubs and societies which were run by students . social group like NCC , NSS and societies for each branch with different names our electrical society is known as electra society.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are pretty good with 2 ceiling fan with wardrobes and lan facilites . Hostels are of 2,3 and single sitter . the meal quality is pretty good in which we have 5 day non-veg menu . Registration process for hostel is simple we just have to submit our hostel fees of 22500rs for each semester .
Admission
Its kinda blurry as my admission was done 3yrs ago still i will write i remember . For eligibility for the Electrical engineering course in NIT silchar is to crack JEE mains with decent percentile (differs for different categories) . And via JOSSA counselling we can choose NIT silchar in our wish , if our percentile is above cutoff then we can get addmission . And the whole admission process is done in online mode where we have tu submit undertaking with all our personnel certificates and id cards . And yes for SC/ST/PWD candidates have certain advantage for getting enrolled . The JEE mains hold 2 exam per year and difficulty is high enough to put the JEE advance exam as india's #2 toughest exam after UPSC. Ok my suggestion for improvement in admission process is that it should give some more time as i know some because of some document issue they were unable to get admission.
Faculty
Faculties are really well knowledged , at some point we feel like we don't even know 5% of what they know . Their lectures were very interactive and they are always available for doubts . They interacts with students often during periods and also they are always available in their own cabin.
